Most GNU/Linux distribution users can replace 1-4 by something like one of the following:
pacman -S irssi
apt-get install irssi
emerge irssi
:-P

or, simply "telnet irc.freenode.net 6667". works on pretty much every system, too, be it *nix, windows, or whatever. only recommended for the truly hardcore netizen tho.

Also, it might be a good idea to add this url:
irc://irc.freenode.net/themanaworld/
To the top post.
Firefox also comes with a nice IRC client and it's free. =]

Just a heads up if you get the same error as I when you try to log on the main channel.
Apparently I had #manaworld as the main channel and today I entered and it was empty. There probably was a redirect to the newer channel #themanaworld and it died.So if the channel is empty check that you are in the right channel.

I am now using Opera in windows. Is there some way to "select" a username in these chat rooms that will automatically address the message to them?
