Maybe the link to eAthena server will change, but as long as it remains, it doesn't matter.

As always, we're probably talking years here to the point of which you're afraid of.

THe servers use different protocols (TCP/UDP) and different ports. So that won't need to change.

The original plan was to delete all players in 2005.

I have no problem with deleting all players from before 2005

This is fine with me, however - what will happen to the rares? I think all players with unobtainable items should be granted them with some handy GM commands when the new server is up and running. It's better than just making the items available again for a limited period, as before, because when items such as the Shroom Hat, the Eyepatch, the Christmas Tree Hat and so on were released there was fewer players, and nowhere near as many as there will be when the new server is released (hopefully!).
With a bit of luck I will have a Shroom Hat soon, and I don't want my hours of work on money-gathering to be in vain!
~please carry rares over into the new server!

I'd rather not have such trivial items be rares.

Noo!! Oh well. Let's see if I care ----------------------->
Nope, I don't. Me and my brother/s are working on a simple branch of TMW. We already have 4 or so rares planned (and one roar). We need graphics, though!
(Say, pixel artists out there - we need a simple castle tileset, indoors only - floor, walls, doorways (with doors and without), straight staircases, spiral staircases and... nothing much else, really)
Anyway, I must say, rare hats should be given to players who had/ve them in the eAthena server.

I am a little bitty frustrated now...

Please can someone explain it me again very slowly...
1st Question:
Gouki wrote:i heard that all characters off the main server will be deleted soon?!
Rotonen wrote:As always, we're probably talking years here to the point of which you're afraid of.
When will this happen, next day, next week, next month, next year...!? Or in many years...? Have i understand Rotonen right, if it will takes years until resetting!?
2nd Question:
Amun wrote:Is it either worth leveling my character any longer?
Is all the time I spend to my charater lost, all things, all (magic) experience!?

If i understand all things right, then it dont makes the idea or plan better...for me at the moment absolutely nonsense. So much time spend at character, collecting (magic) experience, buying cool items like paper bag hat, .... and the whole for nothing, to begin again as level 1 character!? Sorry i cannot understand. Hey let us reset some games like World of Warcraft too...
Never something should reset the time and work for own character to zero...we speak about same world again or not!? Starting the game with same content again or!? There should be a possibilty for character transferation!!!
Please correct me, if I have something missunderstood...

Well,
As a matter of fact, I really think you don't have to worry about your characters for now, and even not in the present year, nor the next one.
What I believe in my humble opinion (and is just my thought), is that Rotonen and the art team are giving their best to slowly but surely implement a new world, based on their experience, and trying hard to avoid the past mistakes...

In order to give users the best world gaming experience...
Obviously, the player's eathena accounts won't be deleted in a few time, nor will the eAthena world be left lost without any maintenance neither in the next months, nor next years.
Once the 'new' world will be ready, including nice new features that eAthena can't offer, with well-balanced gameplay, and so on, and once it will have been intensively tested, then, only, and so I think, the possibility for a player to transfer his characters in the new world will be considered.
The transfer conditions aren't something to be discussed now. It's really too early, and way too irrelevant.
I hope it will make things clearer for everyone.
Take it easy.
Regards,
