Looks like a Fox news poll very balanced
it's my understanding the 5th rule exists because the GMs are unable to police every language (liability reasons)

Yesterday I have introduced my younger brother into the game. Although he speaks English only a bit and although he is a bit lazy (
write in another language, what a pain!), when I had explained him the rule, he found it reasonable and didn't even complained.
It's a kind of test, you know. I like to take harder path. But when my "little" (in fact, he is really taller than me, sigh) bro, who always prefers easier way does not complain, it must be not so painful to speak in English.

I voted"No,its rude and racist to ban foreign languages".English in public isnt a good rule in my opinion.I cant talk with anyone the language I want.All this because this rule.Hang on.Public means everywhere in the maps of the mana world.If I am with my chatting partner and someone comes there then its public.Right?I think this rule needs to be removed.

Nope. If someone is passing by it does not mean, the place becomes public. This is just as in real life: when you are in company it is unpolite to talk in the way, that some do not understand. Had not the

AFAIK the rule is to comply with in town squares, inns, etc. AFAIU the rule is to prevent misunderstandings and it is rather considered as strong suggestion, than absolute law.

It is not only impolite but it causes separation. We will have many different groups, each speaking their own language and not communicating with each other.
You can't tell whether you actually want to be friends with someone of whom you don't know what they're saying. ....
Edit: why do you all want to be separated?
Edit: People actually did/do get banned not following that rule. But only if they actually know English and are not in the least cooperative.

The rule is not there to punish the good players. If we are playing the "what if" game let me give a scenario were the rule protects you. What is you were chatting in your own language with a friend and some guy comes up and is one of the many pretending to be a GM and in your own language says to give your account name and password or you will be banned. It could be any number of scams. If no GM is fluent in that language (translators are imperfect since they don't understand typo's or spelling mistakes and can be really inaccurate to begin with) they will not be able to help you if you can not prove what they were saying to you or tell if what they said falls under the category of abuse.
No one has any problem with people sitting around talking in any language. The reason we have rules is because people don't do this all the time. So if you are look for the exciting opportunity to be trolled, abused, and scammed in your own native tongue (and have the GM unable to do anything about it), please feel free to complain about this rule some more.

which language is THE language taught all over the world? EXACTLY! ENGLISH! wow, that was quick! Congrats! This is why we are NOT talking Italian, BUT English in public. This does NOT make native English-speakers the inner circle around which everything evolves. NO, we have only borrowed their language so we can communicate with each other! I don't feel "foreign" when speaking German. Neither should others, when speaking their language and told to speak English (if they DO know English) so they can be understood.
