Join the Knights of the Silver Order

Post by Wombat »

Knights of the Silver Order

To transcend darkness, there are the few that search for light. Where chaos reigns, there are the few that offer order. Knights of the Silver Order are a guild within the MMORPG "The Mana World". Formed during the great social experiment of 2009, the Knights aim to offer truth and guidance and aim to combat the forces of despair. With the Game Masters removed from the realm, we seek to offer integrity to world, help player's settle disputes, give suggestions to our creators and report transgressions against the rules of The Mana World.

Our Code:

- We seek to exemplify to our peers the highest of integrity. The rules of the world must be followed by those that would join our order.

- We can not tolerate charlatans in our midst. None from our order shall mislead others, be they fellow world travelers or the creators of our world.

- We desire to help maintain order in the world. Those that breech the rules must be reported.

- We will not stand idly by while rules are broken. Suggestions will be given to our peers and our creators to settle problems. Problems that our order can overcome will be attempted.

Those that would participate as a Silver Knight can hold either opinion that: 1.) Want to prove the GMs are needed or 2.) Want to prove the GMs aren't needed.

Currently, I hold the opinion that most problems can be overcome by the players and the Silver Knights can help make that happen. Most bots can be killed off by gathering monster swarms and launching them at the bot. Most disputes can be handled by player mediation or taking advantage of the "ignore" feature offered by our clients.

Those that participate as Silver Knights can hunt for bots and help players settle problems between each other. We can also report and give suggestions to developers on problems that exist and may need their support to overcome.

The Silver Knights now has forums!

Anyone can register to use our forums for game discussion and members can help develop the guild by collaborating with members. We want to have more event and game development ideas, so interested fellows feel free to add to our site. Other guilds can also swing on by to update us on what they are doing and help build alliances to enrich the gaming experience for all!

Some updates:

The Knights of the Silver Order Have Updated Our Code

Now that the GMs have returned, we will continue assisting the server with bot hunting and other activities. We hope to educate our membership and other players on how to file reports to the GMs should they run into problems with the rules, bots or other problem that we can't overcome ourselves.

Here is our revised ethical code:

To transcend darkness, there are the few that search for light. Where chaos reigns, there are the few that offer order. Knights of the Silver Order are a guild within the MMORPG "The Mana World". Silver Knights aim to offer truth and guidance and aim to combat the forces of despair. The order seeks to offer integrity to world, help player's settle disputes, give suggestions to our creators and report transgressions against the rules of The Mana World to the Game Masters.

Our Code:

- We seek to exemplify to our peers the highest of integrity. The rules of the world must be followed by those that would join our order.

- We can not tolerate charlatans in our midst. None from our order shall mislead others, be they fellow world travelers, Game Masters or the creators of our world.

- We desire to help maintain order in the world. Those that breech the rules must be reported.

- We will not stand idly by while rules are broken. Suggestions will be given to our peers and our creators to settle problems. All solutions that our order can overcome will be attempted.

Silver Knights Now Has Over 70 members

We thank everyone that has helped make the Silver Knights grow. While a great deal of the membership is from transforming the old guild "Los Viscerales" into the order, giving it a new name and purpose, over the past couple weeks we've grown our old numbers to over 70 members.

Silver Knights are Seeking Event Organizers

We enjoy seeing our community grow and we see events as an essential aspect to keeping interest in the game. Players sometimes get tired of grinding, so it is nice to take an occasional break from the norm. We would like to see members and non-members organize events. If you are interested in organizing an event, but don't know how, here are some basic tips:

1.) Come up with an event concept. Here are some common events: Organized raid, player versus player, trivia, drop party, tic tac toe, hide and seek, theater, synchronized dancing, fashion show and date night.

2.) Get a few people together to flesh out the concept. If you don't know enough people that are familiar with how to make an event, concept me in game ("Wombat"), email thesilverorder@yahoo.com, drop a line in our guild forums or on this thread.

3.) If a prize is needed, seek a wealthy character or a guild to sponsor your event. The Silver Knights have a small bank of items that were donated just for this purpose and we are more than willing to help with prizes for organized events.

4.) Once the event is fleshed out, find a location, make a time (always UTC is best), date and announce it on the forums. Giving a week is sufficient time, though don't count on forums to generate the bulk of interest in the event. Shorter announced times can also work, but it helps to make sure some players can plan to show, especially your sponsor, who might wait until after the event is held to donate the prize award (Silver Knights do).

5.) About fifteen minutes to a half hour before the event, be sure to be at the meet up spot for the event. This will ensure interest is kept by early comers. While waiting for the time to tick by, use whisper to contact friends, guild members and regular event attendees. Swing by IRC to make a brief announcement at #themanaworld. Also request an announcement for your event from the GMs or event organizers by using the command "@wgm".

6.) If there is no announcement and numbers seem sparse, speak with those that have shown up to make sure they will wait and then run around to common gathering spots to seek if you can generate interest to drum your numbers up.

7.) All events should remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), if the event is too complex, people can get confused. A raid that moves around the game world too much, a player versus player tournament with too many protocols on how combat should occur, trivia with too many difficult questions and so on can turn players off from the event and may complain or continue to ask for how the event works to be repeated.

8.) If there is a trouble player participating, attempt to overcome the problem by finding a solution with them first, but don't put too much time into it if they seem to just want to start an incident. Request the player be silent and/or leave the game should they persist. If this doesn't seem to work, announce that the person is being placed on ignore and move forward with the event.

9.) If there is a prize, ensure your sponsor shows up with the prize they promised to grant to the event. If they don't show up, let the winners know they will be granted a prize.

10.) Be sure to take a photo of the event by using "p". If you aren't familiar with uploading pictures, speak with me other other players that might know for assistance.

11.) Once it is finished, write a short report on the event (usually a few sentences is good) and post a picture of the event. Post your report on the forum. This can drum up credibility and support for future events as well as add ideas for others who may also want to do events.

12.) Listen to feedback, but don't let criticism get you down. Constructive criticism matters most while forum trolling rarely is helpful, so keep that in mind.

Hopefully some of that can help interested event organizers. Sorry about the length.

About using the @wgm to ask for an announcement:

This might get confusing and several GMs (not sure if the Event Organizer see it) might start announcing the event. I suggest that this will be done in private chat/whispers, or check out

http://server.themanaworld.org/

first, to see if some GM, dev, or EO (since they all can do announcements) is there. If you don't find any, you can use @wgm and ask if some GM is there.

Just a suggestion.

I would suggest the following course of action:

1. @wgm "Can someone announce an event for me?"
2. When you get no reply join the IRC channel #themanaworld on irc.freenode.net and ask the same question again (the developers wo also have the right to make broadcasts are easier to reach through IRC than ingame).
3. When you found someone to announce the event for you tell him/her the details in private.

I'm offering something for players to enjoy. What happened to your guild? Sounds like you got bored with it. It would be interesting if you made your guild succeed and kept trying pixelart.

TBH, I thought your mock guild was funny. It seemed to attract a number of people who enjoyed the humor in it. If you hate TMW, then why are you trolling my topic?

To get back on topic, the Silver Knights would like to increase the following roles:

- Raid Leader: Organized raids can be fun as can spontaneous raids. Raid organizing is a great part of the guild.

- Event Organizer: Lots of various events can be held.

- New Player Helper: Helping random new players with starting items and quests is awesome, but so is adopting an apprentice, which might have more potential to expand the quality and quantity of the guild.

- Bot Hunter: Bots are a minor nuisance. Occasional hunting for bots helps the game.

- Merchant: Wealth can be gaged in several ways: Amount of gold, quest resources, equipment and rares. A merchant attempts to buy and sell commodity items to increase their overall wealth.

- Content Contributor: With more quests and pixelart the game can increase in quality dramatically.

We feel that these roles are key to the guild and its growth. Raiding is the day to day activity of experienced characters, events are ways to take breaks from monster grinding, new player helping keeps people interested in the game, bot hunting ensures a fair game environment, merchants provide the player driven market with resources that are often a pain to acquire and content contributions keep the game fresh for players, old and new.

Our current goal is to touch on all these aspects of the game in various degrees. Interested? Just drop your name on this thread, contact Wombat in game or email thesilverorder@yahoo.com

By cursing at 15 year old girls and making fun of them wombat. I mean really. All you do is complain and swear at people.

Being in charge of the "knights of the Silver order" should mean that you treat everyone with respect and honor. All you do is curse out little girls and drop steal.

The definition of knight is "gentleman soldier." You are neither.

Swearing at little girls means you are not a gentleman and you have to drop steal because fighting is just ruining your hair.

That is your honest response to cursing at me. To curse and accuse my sister. I guess you do not see the part where it proves what she was saying.

Where is the hate at?

Please show where she has hated anyone?
