Why GM's are not needed

Ê¡ They only add a sense of corruption amongst the majority of the community. Which is warranted.
Ê¡ Most gm tasks could be automated through server side scripting. (including the banning / kicking of bots) and would be more proficient.
Ê¡ Monthly events and announcements could be hosted and done by game event organisers which would only need limited permissions.
Ê¡ Most people are able to deal with their own issues or problems within the game just as efficient as a gm.
Feel free to add to this list.

Most but not all. Plus its not as easy as you think, we could implement image checking, where the server sends you a image and you have to decode it, and send a reply back. But even this is not fool proof, would require major changes to the client, and would require everyone to upgrade to the newest client. (Something that is hard for people on some OSes like Ubuntu), and would most likely ruin game play.

Just look at all the complains about false positives of the automatic spam detection.
When even such a simple heuristic abuse detection system causes that much grief just imagine how much trouble it would cause to attempt automatic banning of bots.

But Amun, if you automated everything, you would have no one to abuse and accuse. You would have no one to talk to because all would have you on ignore...(something GMs cannot do), and in the end no scapegoat for your own misinterruptions and inadequacies.
Your trolling days would be over......
Are you sure thats what you want..?/

I heard adamix mention that and I agree it would be annoying as crap. But could you not do something more simple? Such as: if player x is stationary in <location> for x amount of minutes <send botcheck> which would be as simple as an automated message asking them to move in x amount of time or they will be kicked / banned the same as gm's currently do.

If the automated spam feature banned for less amount of time I doubt people would complain as much and be more tolerant of it. Example would be like on battle.net if you have heard of it, that will boot you for something like 15 mins for spamming.

Anytime my friend!

You were citing WHY GM's are not needed correct?
MK
EDIT: Or are your being serious? You have to let me know when you are in "experiment" mode, you're so complicated.

Here is the honest to god truth: My first outburst was actually requested by a certain gm. And I was more than glad to help out. What is a few people ignoring you and thinking you are a complete ass for what was perceived as the greater good.
After much discussion with various players they were trying to sway my opinion on gm's and kindly asked me to stop. Not wanting any speedy returns.
My second outburst was a continuation of the first although during it and after some whispers I was starting to see things in a different light.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something else that people may find funny the same person who asked me to do this to begin with is the same person I defended until I was blue in the face. The same person who was giving me hugs and kisses in a whisper just a couple minutes prior to insulting me in this thread to earn points with the cool kids. Funny how things go.

I bet you are. Sit back and have your laugh. But I can promise you this people are really starting to see the bs that goes on including myself. And the more that is known the more indifferent they become.
Watch for that disturbance in the force Master Kenobie because it is going to come back to bite really hard.

I think you are being a little overdramatic, don't you?
