I think having a new, shiny coliseum would be very popular, simply because of the novelty - look at the graveyard.

I think that players should only be allowed into certain areas if their levels are less than the arena level, to prevent high-level players from going into a low-level arena and killing off everyone. Maybe the NPC should automatically warp the players to corresponding arenas, rather than asking the player to choose?

Well, there are my two cents on that topic. *goes off with thoughts about making it*

Maybe call them Barracks though :D

There is already the arena where you can do pvp. And it is mostly deserted. that is why i said there are not enough people who want that.

Also you have to pay to get into the arena and even if you win a fight you still lost the money. it's not much but it is a loss and that's how people think "why should i pay but get nothing?" So a drop or at least some xp would be good. I guess that then more people would like it.
I find the arena deserted, yes.
But I also thought about that arena that way and soon came up with a simple solution:
That arena can become free and users get no EXP or items...
However the large arena (I like the idea) could be a certain place where the experienced players go to fight.

Players would pay something to get a ticket.
The arena could be operated by bots who have the power to sell tickets to the players.
Tickets, if taken to a certain NPC will grant you access to the seating in the arena.
The cost could change depending on the players doing the fighting.

There could be a couple of sections (as suggested before) but there is no level limit.
Players could sign up to become a battler.
There would be about 6 arenas and 8 sections.
One entry room for the players to come in and one special room you must be a battler to get into.
There would be one half divided room for the battlers to go in before the match.
(There will be one room like this for each arena section)
An announcement gives the signal for the battlers to leave the room out a doorway and into the arena.

The players watch as the warriors fight each other, maybe the players can place bets on the winner before the game.

Each arena has an owner.
(Example: I am a player, I was chosen to own an arena so this is my arena to have players fight in for now)
The owners will get paid about 10k a week or something like that to manage their arena.
There can be one 'big boss' arena owner who choses the battlers and the battles.

There can be special championships where players fight one another and move onto quarter finals, semi finals etc. until one player emerges victorious and there will be a reward like 1kk and a special cup for the tournament.

Anyway, this would create a lot more 'jobs' which I think TMW lacks.
Jobs would make it much easier for people to earn money and give good experience and some skills from them so I made my arena plan have good jobs.

That is what I was thinking at first but getting players who get paid and have the ability to warp players to the rooms to battle.
It would give jobs and much more organization for battles.

It would also stop too many players from going to the same arena.
I mean, in the pvp zone currently there if a great number of players wanted to fight the area would become overcrowded.

Where as having a stadium with 2 main battlers and the ability to fight each other while you watch them would probably make it a bit more enjoyable.

There could be separate booths in the seating too so some lower level people or those who don't want to fight others and just watch could be safe.

I hope you like my idea :)

i guess arena is deserted because there is nothing exiting to do in there.. if there was any xp/loot reward, more people would go in it.
I guess there should have like a challenge, for example: you enter in challenge number 1, there you fight 10 monsters, one at a time, an every time you kill one of the monsters you get healed and appears another monsters, stronger this time.. I've seen some other online RPGs like this, and one iPhone/ iTouch game that has became very popular, because of this arena i mentioned..
well, it's just an idea.. hope it could work out =)

We should probably have more events focused around the area. So far most events, (those that do not involve holiday events) focused on, drop parties, random spawning, invasions of monsters, and snake cave runs.

Maybe we have the GMs or certain members of our game set up tournaments.
To promote the arena, and ofcourse certain sparing with others would include prizes during tournament held events.

I thought more along the lines of a GM spawning a monster and seeing who can clear out a swarm in the fast time.
Or see who can survive the longest against various monsters.

And no, it should be capped at lvl 99. Perhaps make it so that only certain lvls can enter, lvl 20 - 30..etc.. and such.

...

As for the New Arena/Coliseum. We should have a section in town showing postings of heros, or those that won a weekly event/monthly event hosted by the GMs or organizer.

Who knows? Maybe one day a section in town with statues cerebrating best warriors/mages/archers of 2010?
or those that survived a 400 snake swarm. etc...

in runescapes "Fist Of Guthix" they have a reward point system, perhaps a monster point reward when you kill someone in the collisuem is in order.. maybe 5x their level(anything from 50 points to 495 points)
this idea would draw players to the collisuem imo and may make a decent source of monster points

only problem is... what prevents people from killing alts over and over, or a friend who just sits there and dies so the other person can get points?

If it were a competition battle such as a tournament (player run) with a crowd it'd be pretty embarrassing for the player who stands there and keeps getting beaten.

perhaps make it so i would take a while to kill or complete the fight, that may make players less likely to do that...
EDIT: what about a small cost to get in, or a loss of points if you die?
