I have planned to start a server, delete all TMW content, maps, art, ect and start over from scratch using our own content, maps, and art. so if any of you would like to help just show us what you have on our forums ( http://landofthelost.freeforums.org/ )

Things we need:
*Start a public server (i have the server part down just not the public part)

*Pixelers, Mappers, Scriptors
*Website
*anything else i forgot to mention

We don't use the word fork unless the client is changed, and the changed client is needed. If you plan on using the same client as the official server, you don't technically qualify as a fork, but as another server.

Good luck with your server.

Hope you are aware how much work it means to create all content from scratch, because many people who tried gave up along the way.

But when you manage to pull it off I am looking forward to exploring your game world. When you ever need technical support feel free to ask us TMW developers for help.

but there will be a PvP map for sure

Zaccheo: I'm just wondering, how do you plan gather developers to work on yours project instead of tmw? Do you know any reliable method to create hi quality content in short period of time. And at least do you aware that if your team will create nice content it will be assimilated (back ported) by tmw, so starting with content from scratch isn't really good idea.

This could be avoided by using a graphic style different from TMW. You could for example use a different perspective (straight-from-above or a strange perspective like Tibia for example), a different style (more realistic or cartoon-like) or by using a different scenario (MMORPGs don't have to be heroic fantasy).

Also note that when you don't use any TMW graphics as base or templates, your graphics are not a derivate work and so they don't have to be released under the GNU GPL.

But in case of not using GNU GPL you must specify which files are under GPL and which are not. It's recommended to decide at very beginning of project which license suits project the best.
