I'll present some architecture styles for the Tutorial Island, the style is open for discussion, they are samples not the actual graphic you will see on game.

Still left out : Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical, Picturesque and others.

So lets start, If you like a specific style let us know and why, consider the following :

1. only small buildings will be created (shops, inns, bank?)
2. is intellectual people, because there is a big academy nearby, they are wealthy (somehow), maybe magicians, shamans, inventors, librarians, alchemist.
3. but also regular commerce like skinners, herbalist, farmer market.
4. A central plaza with a fountain, benches, gardens
5. open to any other suggestion
4. close to a Dock

It was my understanding that we had decided to go with tudor revival/timberframe.

Jaxad0127: Unfortunately I have to say this (and repeat), no, the style was not decided at the moment, I was just trying to decide which is going to be the architecture (as you can see), no, I didn't know yet if I was going to use any other existing or in progress tileset for the village. (except for the academy which is Irukard's Bricks tileset), I'm a pixelartist I love to create new things, not reuse, not tweak and present, not even scan and modify (that's my way).

Fother is in charge of the playerset, and I presume he is busy enough to not been able of take care of both graphic developments.

Sorry to tell you this way (In general I try to avoid this) but you are following all the threads saying the same all over the place:

http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 312#p71312
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 405#p71405
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 440#p71440
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 381#p73381
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 750#p71750

You made your point. And I did try to tell you this in a different manner but not possible.

If you feel that you can take control of the graphic development of the Tutorial Island yourself, so be it, I'm stepping down to let you take care of it.

 Wait, wait!
Let's not let this turn into leadership compromise drama.

Rotonen stated clearly that you, AxlTrozz, are the leader of that part.

Jaxad is a usual quick-and-focused commenter of any thread in there, and I'm sure all he said was to help.

As for myself, Rotonen also deleted one of my post in content dev, when he felt it wasn't meaningful, and I accept it.
It's quite casual to read a thread without getting the proper intention of the author, and I can understand it can be stressing when getting comments, taken for objections.

So, take it easy! ;)

I'm, as everyone, trusting your work in there.

Best regards.

Hi,

Now so far, I'd be for the Byzantine style (own and personal humble opinion).
Why?

I just felt it's the less "ostentatious" (not meaning the others are bad) style which could fit maybe more a starting village/town while keeping a neat and classy style, which in my little brain fits casual intellectual people.

Regards.

I did a quick design based on the byzantine style,

I did it using Gimp (hand made basically) but if we decide to go with this option, we need Irukard's help with Inkscape and something more atractive (and correct perspective), but just for testing purpose.

I can tell I like the style but may be we need to evaluate 2 o 3 styles first before any decision.

I like the style as well, of course we need something definitely bigger to look majestic.

If it is supposed to be a humble support farming/fishing village/harbor for a fortress/academy, why would it have to be majestic in any way?

Well majestic could be a bit exaggerated, but the buildings still have the same height of the player

Byzantine style looks nice ;)

I made a small research:

Personally I would prefer the horseshoe arch for doorways. I looks fresh.

and last question: what priority do we have? small or large buildings first?

General shape is IMO done. I can add some details like horseshoe windows, perspective markers for ornaments, etc.
Now is time for some smaller buildings. Maybe in slightly different style but in similar colour. Notice that not every building was made in same time.

Totally agree, I think we can stick with Byzantine, if anyone else has any word about this, say it now.

If you wait for opposition on something, give a deadline by which people have to respond and after that just push forward. Otherwise you might leave it hanging indefinitely and no one dares to go ahead with it in case you forget about it. This way if you forget about it, someone will nag about it after the deadline passes.

On an irrelevant note, I'm approving the choice, so no opposition to be seen here. Merely a technical remark.

Hi,

No opposition from me, as I proposed it anyway... ;)

Nice start!

Best regards.
