I would like to change my name

Post by loquin »

I talked to CapitanAwesome about changing my name, and he said to ask here.

I made up my name on the fly, never looking to see what it meant. Apparently it means something in Spanish as Spanish speakers keep coming up to me and talking, but I don't speak Spanish at all. I would like to just shorten it to loqi if possible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Basically, AFAIK, all you have to do is create a new character, name: loqi, then go talk to a GM about a level switch between loquin and loqi. If you read through the logs, you'll see it's been done a few times.

IMHO, players should never be allowed to transfer stats over to new characters. The 2nd character will have a clean slate and be able to duplicate quests and therefore possibly gain exp on top of the original character's stats.

For example, If loquin unlocks Loratay and uses that exp to level up, what prohibits loqi from repeating that quest?

I understand alts can be used to pass items to main characters, but not experience.

Not my intent. Just wanted a name change. Surely there must be something in place to just change a name. If there is not other way, I'll just live with it.

We have talked for awhile about adding a GM command to allow GMs to change a player's name per request, but nothing yet. My best advice is to learn "I don't know" or "Go away" in Spanish.

Wouldn't that seem a bit rude?

I'd just say "No hablo espanol" and (something, could be go, could be other words) off.

I agree.

The forum should be the same, or become a place for ... confusion.

~ Big big confusion, to say the least ...

oh yes the 100,000 exp or so from quest will really give a boost.

Do you understand exp.

It is 56kk, 56,000,000 exp for lvl 97. It is 99,000,000 exp for level 98.

100k will help him soo much.

I see no reason for a gm not to do it. It is in fact one of the main reason to have him around.

The extra exp and items can be gain by starting a new character away.

And properly stat a character can do about 10k per min of exp. Which means it would be better use of time to fight then do all the little quests.

I mean to do all the quest would take 40 hours. You would gain about 100k exp.

In 40 hours of play you can get 24,000,000 exp. Which is about 1/8 the way to the 403,000,000 exp for lvl 99.

Get real.

On my old char I had to change my name and it was no problem at all. I asked a GM that was online. Created a char with the name i wanted (just shortened it), transferred my stuff and got leveled to the level I had reached so far. After that i deleted the old char and everything was good.
Ok I could have done the quests again (which i was too lazy for) but really... Why is that such a big deal? Quests don't give much xp and the items you get don't give much money. so what? jealous of the previous stated 40 hours work that are behind all that?
Maybe a topic in the Team-area of the forum (as I guess there is one) who did that with who. and what names that where is the solution.
A reason has to be there, that really is a reason and doesn't sound as an excuse, just to get high on another char. The player has to be at least a bit trustworthy that he really will delete the previous char... and so on ... With a bit organizing inside the team it can't be a problem.

(sounds confusing o.O )

A quest for a 'non-item 100,000 experience points only' reward may be insignificant to a level 98 character. But, as you've formulated, my point is valid.

Why the hell do people want to change their usernames anyway?

People think I'm Spanish all the time, I just say "I don't speak Spanish" and they leave me alone!

You can get 25,000 exp for 10 maggot slimes. 1/4 of what you are worrying about. In the long run. It does not matter much. 100,000 exp will get you from 1-30 lvl or so. 25k will get you 1-25 or so. After lvl 30, it is pointless.
