change "release announce" policy please :)

Hmm this is just my opinion, so consider that :)
Not meant badly.

Anyway as you don't announce the date of the next arrival of a stable
version(as you did before in IRC topic) i'd suggest you change the
date in the roadmap(wiki). The last 2 releases you brought much
later then suggested, and that disturbs me somehow. If I go to a
website and want to know when the next version will be out, and I
see "relase: if done" literally spoken, thats OK for me. The developers
decided to not get release dates public.

But if I search and eventually find a fixed date for the next stable
release, it passed by already, and that's the only place to find info on Releases,
well then I don't get a good opinion about the devs :)

It seems to me as if they don't care about their project...
Maybe thats too harsh, but well, thats what echoes deep in my thoughts.

Please change the date or post a notice as soon as a release is
postoned. Or change it and don't display a date and release by your
very liking :D

I don't post here because I think _I_ want it to be changed or _I_
don't like this or that.
Because maybe there's tons of guys out there that like to know about
tmw who eagerly await next stable release, and then there's not
a single note about it. (sidenote: we have 700+ registered forum users)

PS: especially because on the Roadmap lots of nice things get
announced for next release. Like minimaps, improve display...

Maybe something like "begin/mid/end of [month]" or "August/October" would be better?

Isn't "roughly once per month" enough for a pre alpha tech demo?

Could it be that the date in the wiki Roadmap is only a meant as a time limit for developers?

I always undertood it as a Release roadmap kinda.
And as Info for Players for next Release.

Please tell me if I'm wrong. :)

I agree we should have updated the Roadmap as soon as we decided to delay the release. I've updated the Roadmap now.

The release date is more a reminder for the developers than a final date for a stable release, but we try to respect it or development will slow down a lot. Having landmarks help us to reach what we want in a defined time and not only when we feel enough willing to. What I mean is yeah probably people could think we are not serious for not respecting the date, but believe me it is better to have a date and delay the release for a week more than not having a date and delay the development for months and get a lot of annoying people sending pms, emails, and what else to ask for the next release date.
Just an example:
http://daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/portal.php look at the second news item

About the current release, well it was delayed because only 1 of the 3 main goals has been achieved, and since after this release we want to concentrate on server development, we thought it could be better to take our time. We will probably modify the future release dates to have a range of one week for emergency reasons to avoid confusion.

Anyway I apolgize in name of the development team, but I confirm there will be a release in a week.
