How about making a "Tile Request Thread"?

then we can talk about old and new tiles.

fx.

Can someone fix the transparent corners? (I am getting something red)

Could someone (Crush?) make a side view of the fallen stones. (so I can tile the B way also)

___|...|___

|.......................| B

----|...|
----|...|
----|...| A

and stuff like that.

Again, instead of fixing this horrible tileset, I suggest to create a new one.

Also mappers have been explicitly encouraged to go and demand stuff on the GFX section for quite some time.

Additionally, isn't there already a thread for this particular tileset? Go make your impact there.

While you kill the set, also replace the spiders we loaned from Cave Adventure too.

We could steal Modanung tiles for the "new cave game" by Bjorn ;)

The two beefs I got with the cave tileset is:
cave_problems.png
cave_problems.png (29.32 KiB) Viewed 3190 times
The top two circles, has to do with the water tiles borders, there is a strange lighter colored line there, needs to go.

The bottom large circle, has to do with those tiles, and how badly they tile.

Both of these problems should be relatively simple to fix, but I'm not a pixel artist, so no go for me.

No, please not. They have an awful sterile look.

They would be a good place to start.

Oh, come on. The transition from walls to floors is like it was cut with a knife. Caves you visit as a tourist might look that way because they were filled with concrete but natural caves don't. The wall- and floor texture are boring (even more boring than the current ones) and the wall end tiles are mirrored. It isn't even organized in 32x32 tiles.

Starting from scratch would be better.

I actually think the cliffs from the new forest tileset are a good start. This is because they look nice AND most caves have the same "stone" as the outside (the cliffs). It does need some work though, for instance plants dont grow in caves (same goes for the grass. Lightning might be a little different to. But I do think it's a nice start.

I don't expect much lightning in a cave.

That's the reason why indoor tiles are especially challenging.

I don't think you understood what I was saying (lightning, not lighting).
