We are going into unsettled times, with the talk of the merge.
Why the heck isn't TMWC being more accessible?
I see Gina and myself, not afk and no one else ....... Did I miss something? Should Gina and I not be logging in? If we don't show up, how the heck can we expect anyone else to.................

Re: TMWC
Pretty much all the DEV team is working on the merge, the game should see some new stuff and hopefully more players soon enough.
Re: TMWC
I agree and disagree:
The dev team is not present enough in game, but this is mainly because we have a giant amount of work to do. When we log in game we have the very same question that pop every minute "When will the new server be released?".
Even if we completely understand the enthusiasm and worries from the community, we can't answer this question, and you are here since long enough to know that we can't.
So yes we hide on IRC, but what will the community say if we come in game everyday with the same answer? "We are working on it, but we can't comment on a date yet." The community will become lazy from this speech, they will even consider it a lie.
It happened before with CR1, it could happen again.
GMs are not cops, they represent the link between developers and the community. You all know that some of us (devs) are brain-dead, and that we highly lack of communication skills.
You are part of this TMWC, you know what is going on (and if you don't, it's our fault), we know that you can't do it alone but stand still the time for us to put everything in place for the merge to happen in a good way.

Re: TMWC
We will work on better links between the dev team and GMs. Devs seem to think GMs should be more up to date with development and should take part in dev discussions even if they do not actively contribute. I agree with this. The GM role should include that responsibility in the job description.
As for devs being more present in-game, that will happen more once the new server running TMW-Evol is ready, but we should keep in mind that devs are not required to be good with people and their job does not include community management. If we expect that of devs, we will have less and less of them over time. Leave it to GMs.
