Death penalty
If there's a death penalty, people would avoid dieing. They would do so by eating up health items, which cost money.
well you all relize there is a penalty for dieing right.
its just not much of one

Repairing items
Once a player has bought all of the maximum equipment, theres no longer a high demand for money. That can be solved if used equipment would get wear and tear that needs fixing.
if items have normal wear and tear
This is what I was thinking of. It is silly that you can wear a shirt for a year in the game and it never wears out (and I know this game isn't supposed to be 100% life-like). There should be a penalty for wearing equipment a lot so that after a while of using it (fighting or just wearing) you have to buy a new one.

In my opinion equipment decay is a necessary feature for the new server to fight inflantion and keep crafting interesting after a few months. But I think items should only decay when worn in combat. Damaging equipment just by sitting around ingame would punish people for socializing and this is not a good thing for the community.

I agree because when you are sitting a talking you are not collecting drops that can be sold for GP.
if GP is gained through fighting it should also be lost through fighting. It makes for a nice balance.

You mean you have to travel all the way back to where you came from after having half of your HP restored for free? I don't really consider that a penalty. Perhaps if hp was restored to 1 point, that would be a bit better. A doctors fee would be great.
