Whip Animation.

Well... I decided to up and go make a whip animation! The whip will have a four tile (32 pixels each) range, including the one tile that is in front of the player and non-attackable. Before I go out and make all 20 frames... I will post one frame here. Using some modification... I was actually able to use the fist/dagger animation for the whip! Amazing, I know, but let's continue.

Stats:
Range: 4. (Cannot attack directly in front of player)
Frames: 6. (So far at least.)

PLEASE TELL ME WHICH VERSION YOU LIKE BETTER!!!

It's a nice start, so I guess you should go on and spare Modanung some work.

What's the range?Whips typically have longer range than ordinary melee weapons.

Good work, but im right handed and would use a whip like a girl with my left... lol

For the side frames we decided to mirror the frames for left and right, this saves a lot of work. The weapon hand in those frames is the nearest hand. With up and down it's simply the right hand.

The more weapons the better I'd say.

You are referring to more powerful whips? Like whip, great whip, fire whip, etc? Well, my idea is to change the color, maybe add some things like spikes on the end, stuff like that. It's easier that way, rather than having to redo the entire thing.

probably we will have whip skill too, in future. this will help to distinguish players whip power. maybe a higth whip skill using a normal whip can hit more then on less whip skill using a "master dark fire monster whip" :P

Or with a whip skill you can :
- turn all around you for touch all ennemy around you,
- magical whip,
- burning whip,
- combo for 3 hits in one,
- paralyse an enemy (attaching neck or leg).

For the whip animation speed effect will be very important...

Is graphical explosions, stars or anything design for the figthing ? For having more spectacular figths...

Those are some good suggestions. Right now, I'm focused entirely on making the whip itself. Afterwards, I'll probably mull over ideas for new improvements.

Of course. Though, I have a feeling the speed will be a variable in the final design. Even if it isn't, I will carefully calculate the whip's speed to both be realistic and coincide with the gameplay.

I was planning on it, I'll see what the development team says. If it's a go-ahead, I'll also work on a "Getting-your-head-whacked-by-a-whip-animation." :wink:
