Lost pet!

In evol I had a beautiful piou pet as reward for a quest.
Well it just disppeared!
Did it die for starving? Did it vanish because I died in game?

if you don't feed it, or feed it too much it will either die or run away from you, forever

Does being offline count as not feeding it? In other words does one have to log in specifically to feed their pet?
