Boat bugbear

Should we flip the boat map around so you're not immediately trying to re-board the boat every time you leave it?

Is there any obstacle to this? I'm surprised it was never done if it's just a matter of "invert 180".

There haven't really been any map changes the past 2 years, but this would be a very welcome one!

Funny how one gets used to something over the years, and never really questions it after all this time (me). This would be a good change for sure.

It's not quite as simple as just flipping it, but it's a small map so it wouldn't be hard to redraw it flipped.. It's also built as a corridor so we could simply move the door from one side to the other (and fix the carpet) and it'd look fine.

If we're just moving the door I believe there's 2 places to edit per boat: the koga.txt (or koga-candor.txt) for the exit warp, and they each have a line in npc/functions/ferry.txt (the respective L_Board function) for the entrance. If we're doing a full flip then I'll have to find and move all NPCs per boat as well, but that wouldn't be difficult.

I think moving the door suffices. The positions of the rest of the interior seems irrelevant.

Its well known effect in professional software dev and QA/UX worlds. Fresh eyesight is best one can get. Ppl get used to imperfections and strange things over time. It what makes feedback of new players valuable. Ofc sometimes bugs can be re-declared into features on their own right. But it definitely not a case and Specing also deserves some credit on improving boats usability by removing pointless NPC dialog and just walking out of boat instead - saving few silly clicks. I did comparable thing for storage chests vs banks (idea itself by Thorbjorn).

My opinion about this is that's its a great task for a junior mapper to fix, which is why I did not fix it myself. Multiple people thus far have complained, but no-one has stepped up to do it.

All that needs doing is copy-paste and updating of NPC warp coordinates in the ship and at the docks.
