I know that Vista is poorly secured but don't ask us to break in your home computer.
NOTICE: file:/// means that file is on your PC, and thats why it is unreachable from any other place.

About the fire maggot: Just a recolor of the normal maggot + the fire from the fire goblin. We could do this by recoloring the maggot graphic dynamically and adding the fire as a particle effect.
The NPC might be usable.

I like the NPC. I've been working on a quest and this dovetails with something I was looking for very nicely.
I notice he doesn't have any arms/hands. Was this intentional?
I also like the fire maggots - even if it is possible to implement them by other means, it is still nice that we're getting ideas for evil spells and what not.
Keep up the creativity!

i like the idea of the way the npc looks ...
and the spell is a grate idea...
the color is a bit flat (npc) and imo and it neededs rips to complete the look.
thats what i think..

I like the Baron Samedi look but skipy is right it is really dark.

Hi,
As said above,
A red maggot + fire is only a technical implementation as the system is flexible enough to not require another sprite.
If enough people agree with the idea, the red maggot could be added...

I don't mind the rips and stuff but it does not solve the problem with it looking flat. I see you have done some variation to make shading, but the color change is to subtitle that I can only see after magnifying the image to 800x. If you can't see the detail at full size then you need to go back and increase the contrast so you can. A good example of using black and heavy contrast is the Black Cowboy Hat.

Your shading real has to have more contrast so you can see the detail and shape show up when looking at it in the size it will appear in game.

A nice setting for the fire maggot and fire goblin would be a lava cave.
Some work has been done on this (Modanung's work IIRC):

What do you think?

I think you misunderstood what I said when I talked about contrast. I did not want you to crank on the contrast bar in your image modifying program. I was hoping for more and lighter shades of gray in between the black and white. Perhaps a look at a Pixel art tutorial would help you understand some of the terms being used. I know it did me a world of good.

HOWEVER: The rotated Top Hat really, really, really, really doesn't work.
Looks like the top hat is a few sizes too small. Also skipy the hand closest the lantern is a little hard to make out (seems all white with no detail). Big improvement though!
