Wow great drawing Paj. I imagine this creature to like caves.
For the attack animation I see this creature retracting its eyes and then stretching out its beak to bite.

This is what I had in mind (nothing settled yet):

- The shell is fixed to the slug.

- I'm not sure if the spikes are retractable or not.. They're fixed to the soft body of the slug, but not to the shell. In my mind the spikes grow steadily with the shell, however the spikes sprout from the shell but are not fixed. This could give some movability/retractability to the spikes...

- I see it that way because the slug at first is a normal slug, then grows a shelll (with holes for the spikes) and then the spikes.

-It is very important to tell that I don't care really how it turns out the retractability of the spikes... Is up to the pixel artist, whoever wants to do the animation he should choose what parts are moving and not. If he feels animating the spikes would be effective then go ahead.

No, it is 2H for the sketch, and B, 2B, 3B for the shadings. I use a malleable rubber and a "smudge bar" (is that the name?) for the highlights.
