Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
Bodom, AFAIK the bot is a modified client, so would be c++. And turmfalke hasn't released the source.

Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
sorry I was ill(still don't know exactly what I had) and stayed the last 3 weeks in bed. During that I honestly forgot my tradebot. The bot should now once again more often be online.daemonowner wrote:how come i havent seen tradebot online in a while?
hope he'll be back soon..
you don't expect me to trust someone I don't even know with 1 post enough to hand over my program + db, do you?Bodom wrote:Hi!
Nice idea! I'm interested on helping with the development of the bot.
Depending on system requisites, maybe I can provide a 24/7 server too.
Wich language is the bot written in? Where is the source?
bye
yes would be c++, but no it isn't a modified client.AcnotAlpha wrote:Bodom, AFAIK the bot is a modified client, so would be c++. And turmfalke hasn't released the source.
I hope that in the next days when my raid controller finally comes to move tradebot to my new machine. That still won't allowed me to run tradebot 24/7 but I am looking forward to 23/7.

We are handing over our program to people even though we don't even know they exist. Because we believe in open sourceyou don't expect me to trust someone I don't even know with 1 post enough to hand over my program + db, do you?

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

Confused Tree was authorized by Bjørn in the Wiki: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Friendly_BotsTurmfalke wrote:I hope that in the next days when my raid controller finally comes to move tradebot to my new machine. and there is an entry in the gm log:
[2009-10-06 20:27:06] 009-1.gat(51,38) Katze : @t the Confused Tree is now an officially authorised bot!
When was TradBot authorized?
Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
Your open source understanding is really poor.Turmfalke wrote: you don't expect me to trust someone I don't even know with 1 post enough to hand over my program + db, do you?
Anyway, discussing about philosophy will result in a flame war, so I'll avoid this topic.
Meanwhile since the official guidelines says "Like TMW, friendly bots should be free software." (ref: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Friendly_Bots), please provide us a download link for the source for your bot, and I will develop a fork project on my own.
Regards
Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
"Should" and "must" are two completely different words. Turmfalke is in no way obliged to give you the source for his application. Even if it was based on the official TMW client, he doesn't need to give you the source unless he distributes a binary. And I don't see him distributing anything.Bodom wrote: Meanwhile since the official guidelines says "Like TMW, friendly bots should be free software." In example, the "Confused Tree" bot you see on that list was never open source.

When was TradBot authorized?
but would you hand over eA acc db?Crush wrote: We are handing over our program to people even though we don't even know they exist. Because we believe in open source
About my bot not beeing open source:
For me I have define that my bot is open source, but that doesn't means that I have to give everyone who aks a copy of the source code. Means should I ever leave tmw and not longer be able to run tradebot the person who gets the program from me would also get the soure code. My intention was always to create a bot which can be used by everyone, would I release my source code today we would have 3 attempts to get there tradebot authorized, 7 not authorized of which at least 3 would be used to scam people by tomorrow. Also my code is rather ugly, including hardcoded pw and I don't have the time to explain how to set up everything requiered for tradebot. When I find the time(most likely after Christmas) I will go look into creating a abuse protection and make !add public available. Currently only a few people are allowed to use it.

Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
Clearly you have a major misunderstanding of open source. Why should people use your trade bot if they don't know what is happening behind the scenes. You say your code is ulgy, but maybe someone will help you fix that.Turmfalke wrote:but would you hand over eA acc db?Crush wrote: We are handing over our program to people even though we don't even know they exist. Sure there is always the possibility that exploits exist, and could be abuse. But it is also just as likely that people will help you fix those exploits.
<Kage_Jittai> ... are you saying I am elite
<thorbjorn> Yes.

<thorbjorn> Yes.

Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
I am aware of that, but do you have to know the source code of a web server to use the web page? open source doesn't requires that I host my project on a page like sourceforge or provide any service for which I currently don't have the time for other people. Hell, I could even decide to sell tradebots source code and I already a had a couble of offers with over 1kk gp.Kage wrote:Clearly you have a major misunderstanding of open source. Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
ok today I had a bit more time than usual and spended it on coding a bit for tradebot. The outcome is that it is now possible to allowed players to add a specific amount of items to tradebot. As hitherto that based on mutual trust, there is no guarantee that tradebot doesn't eats your items. Also please note that the accounts on tradebot are connected to your char name so avoid name changing while you are selling items on tradebot. Futhermore I also presume to have the right to ban players from tradebot or remove lines from the !list.
If you want to use tradebot for selling items send me a pm with your char name and how many items/lines on !list you need at the same time. Please also note that you should have a basic graps for how much a item is worth, adding keys for 20k each is a easy way to get banned from tradebot.

Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
most likely cause they are sold from 2 different players or can only be traded one at a time.

Re: Turmfalke's TradeBot
everyone can add items for sale or you have to approve them?
