Whispers of Avalon
Re: possible branch: Whispers of Avalon (some day...maybe)
I think you should make ManaSource its own map editor, which can place NPCs (and has an Edit Dialogue window), warps, monster spawn points and so on.
Call it ManaMapper.
Call it ManaMapper.

Aha. I'm Enchilado and SpamMaster, so:
no hope - dreadful - poor - average - fair - good - excellent
Character Design: Fair
Architecture Design: Fair
Environment Design: Good
Coding: No hope
Graphics: Good
Mapping: Excellent
My own opinions entirely, of course.

I really need:
* Common items icons (like food, potions, ect)
* Monster sprites
* Tileset objects

Well, for a start, I can tell you what I would recommend having for a test server. Nothing too flashy, but enough to hold people's interest.
1) A map of a small village of a neutral alliance
2) A Road map connected to the village, and a couple of Wood maps at the end of it
3) Three quests
4) 1 unique monster for each map
5) [Cotton Shirt]*, [Cotton Trousers], [Boots], [Scythe], [Rusty Sword], [Hunting Bow]
6) [Bread], [Berry], [Pease Pottage]â€ÂÂ
Something along these lines. So basic items, basic maps, basic monsters.
I might try my hand at the foods.
* - Cotton clothing can be dyed for GP
†- I chose this name for Pease Porridge, because it sounds older and more country-villagish.

The test severer is really more for development, not so much to hold peoples interest.
My dream for the actual game
The starting town in the real game will be a town that's occupied by the State, its a city currently in lockdown while the military attempts to root out a rebel assassin. The player can then help the state kill the assassin or help the assassin carryout his mission. Depending on what you do determines which faction recruits you, and you'll be transported to their barracks in their capital city, to choose your starting class (and from that point on anyone on the enemy faction can kill you). To help keep low lvls safe Fraction Friendly Monsters (Guard npcs) will get stronger the closer you get to the capital (so only a large raid group or stealth class have a chance to get to a noob area of the enemy faction)
*As a side note all NPCs will use sprites made from the female and male base sprite (so all NPCs will walk around)
*most quests will relate to the war or the history of the world (such as a quest to wipe out a town in enemy territory might be an example of an advanced quest) rather than helping random farmers.

I just love the idea of this game. But making random items won't get you anywhere; you need a clear list of what needs to be done when and how well.

Should be able to do that. Shall I start with the weakest weapons, so we can get them onto the test server?
Also I want a Snail monster. Is there one existing?
And a Turtle.
I already see a test server... a complete world in itself (albeit very small)...
Outside the village, big snails lurk, and some turtles down by the stream.
In the village there are ducks.

That or I (or someone) could finish spiky slimejaxad0127 wrote:TMW's snails might work.

I think small animals like turtles and ducks should be purely decoration (killing turtles would hardly make you a better warrior)weakest weapons, so we can get them onto the test server?
