Re: webcam.now.im (spying)

i'm not sure what official support meant myself. There was a word the tmw team would host the webcam themselves. Presumably to deal with privacy issues. I guess it meant the ignore list would be safer with them than with me. The webcams could have used some heavenly touches from GMs. Respawning the...

Re: Mob AI behavior

This sounds like an awesome feature that will add a lot of depth to gameplay!
Is there a server we can try this on?

Also, what about a "wandering monster" flag? This could either be something random, or set some map points that it walks to, in a sort of patrol.

Re: Case sensitivity

Before we make that change (which I happen to agree is necessary), I suggest we: 1) Tell as many users as possible that this is planned (and include Spanish, German, and Portuguese/Brasilian speakers in particular). Maybe sending everyone an email wouldn't be a bad idea in this case. Email could be...

Re: Case sensitivity

I am, indeed, saying that the same API that can make or break a crash is directly related to the parsing of GM commands. "The same API" is very broad. Any bad code "can make or break a crash" so that's not informative. I was going to suggest that we remove the case-strictness an...

Re: Case sensitivity

I count thing like "not crashing on exit, losing player data" and "not allowing the database to enter an inconsistent state" as important parts of the server health, as well as "making code that is not prone to causing either of the previous at a later date due to seemingly...

Re: Case sensitivity

It is not a change made for the purpose of benfitting you; it is for the health of the server. Your list is about the source code. The server works pretty well already. Can you quantify how the resulting server will be more "healthy"? Incidentally, I consider GM usability to be one aspect...

Re: Case sensitivity

I first heard of this a few hours ago, and expressed concern that case sensitivity will interfere with normal workflow for GMs, as it has for people on the testing server. Before we make changes on the main server, I'd like to hear: 1) Reasons for the change to @item and @spawn commands, and if ther...

Re: jack the lumberjack in Hurnscald

I was thinking That we could add a quest to Jack maybe a weekly or daily where he has fallen behind on his orders with the ship running to Nivalis. He could ask a player to gather logs for him say 40 logs for 400 gp as a way too make money at that level. I agree, this could help level 30-ish charac...

Re: Melkior for GM

Melkior is one of those rare people who thinks before he talks. And he sure knows how to talk! His sense of humor is stronger than his sense of smell. And he sure smells! His programming skill is greater than his singing ability. And he can sure rock the mic! His joy from the game is greater than hi...

Re: Help with JunOS

Olive is the only JunOS emulator I've heard about, and that includes after-work chats with Juniper field techs.

I've been considering a home lab for this. Maybe this will get me to try setting up Olive finally, and we can talk. :)

Re: Auto-follow, is it time for a change?

I'm not convinced that following a step behind is any less an abuse of the game - it will still place the player in close proximity to the targets, and they will thus still be effective as a botstack. Particularly if the follower is an archer or mage attacking from range. Granted it would be easy t...

Re: Auto-follow, is it time for a change?

Let's take a step back. I'm sorry that I said anything was "dumb." That's counterproductive. Likewise, let's leave things like "lazy" and such out of this. And don't involve the NSA or NKVD either. Evil people don't argue about games on Internet forums. GMs are players just like ...

That's dumb.

Some advice to everyone: be concise. Organize your thoughts well enough that you can communicate them without a wall of text.

Re: Language building

There's a clear need for other languages. Right now, players join language-specific guilds.

Guild chat itself is a hack, and it's not a very flexible way to change languages. We can find something better.
