Off in the distance, there stands a man that looks like he'll give you what you expect, a quest.
Man: "Hello adventurer... Welcome to the lands of Mana! Are you ready for the Quest of Utter Epicness, only suited for such a noob as yourself?"
Options:
A. Kill the man cuz' he called you a noob.
B. Marry the man, since he looks rich.
C. Follow along, like a good player, and accept the quest.
If you picked option A: You steal a dagger from the man as he blabs on, equip it, and stab him repeatedly in the same motions. The shocked man dies and disappears while you gather up his drops. Sadly, you've forgotten this was a game, and according to the standardized game laws, "what dies respawns", he instead comes back, kills you in one hit, gather YOUR drops, and then YOU come back and beg for your items back.
Man: "Oh, sure I'll give them back, I just need you to do a favor for me." The man smiles evilly. "Go to The Horrible Cave, there should be treasure deep in the heart of it, fetch that for me and I'll give a faction of what you find, plus your items. Don't worry, you won't get lost or anything."
If you picked option B: You all of sudden become flirtatious and burst out in comments about how you've always been lovingly stalking him. He blushes, "so... you're the one who's been sending me all these letters!" You lie and nod your head, wondering who in the world would send a creepy bearded guy letters, he replies with, "I knew it!! So... You really will do it?". You slowly nod your head, wondering yet again... "I can't believe you would come all the way here to get our rings... Remember? The legendary wedding rings! Said to keep us together, FOREVER!" You take a few steps back, lose 10 HP from the cheesiness, and wished you picked option C, like a good player. "Yes!! Yes!! I'll come with you to The Horrible Cave north of here, since I do need to protect you! Wait for me, I'll get the map." While the man turns his back you escape and go northward to the cave, maybe if there are rings in the cave there might be treasure...
If you picked option C: "Grand! Now take this dagger, go inside The Horrible Cave, get lost, defeat a dragon, and much more! Here are a long list of items I want you to painfully grind for me, but don't worry, after only a few 10s of hours you'll find everything you need in The Cave!" You read the list and almost faint in the process, and turn around and face The Cave, thinking there will be no way a newbie like you could even finish the quest, when all of a sudden the man spoke. "Oh, and I also need you to get me some of the treasure in the cave." Your newbie ears perk up and you go forward in a running start towards the The Horrible Cave.
Note: I'm thinking that after the player has collected the treasure, s/he will have to fight a 1 HP dragon of course. I also have much more to expand on this idea for newbies. Newbies need epic quests, so we need to make it as epic as epic can be. Comments, ideas, and constructive criticism will be appreciated.
