I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

I second Ghost9998's sentiments. Botting does a number of things:Ghost9998. wrote:I think all botters should be kicked off mana world
* slows down play for other players (system load)
* creates false economies where botters artificially reduce the cost of items like pearls by farming areas faster than non-botters can.
* makes it more difficult for new players who are trying to understand/play when some botter swoops in and cleans up an area.
* It creates more of those annoying shops that pm regular players. These occur anyway, but seem to be more prevalent now that botting is allowed.
* It creates a lot more bots. Once you get a few bots running around they tend to multiply.

Botting is allowed? I think not. Granted, some players have automated their clients, but I think that botitng is clearly not allowed in TMW!chaslinux wrote:I second Ghost9998's sentiments. Botting does a number of things:Ghost9998. wrote:I think all botters should be kicked off mana world

Rule number 2. Please learn the rules.

Platyna wrote:2. No bots (and by botting I mean ANY AFK activity in game).

Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
Bots are now part of tmw. Learn to deal with it. If they are well known bots and have not been kicked off the server than its safe to say there is a board of permissions and guidelines given to them. In your twisted arguments and rewording what platyna said. Bots are any afk activity from a player without permission of/from an administrator of the game. If your botting you know it stop trying to abuse the system.
Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
I think most of the disagreements in this thread are because people have different definitions of botting. There are three fundamentally different things which have been called botting by different people in this thread:
1. Making your character level automatically while you are not playing it personally
2. Partially or fully automatizing your character while you are playing it personally
3. Having an automated character in town for fun or to provide services
1. is forbidden by the game rules.
2. is a grey area
3. is forbidden unless you have a permission from a server administrator

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

I dont agree on point 2. "Partially or fully automatizing your character while you are playing it personally" This is NOT against the current rules. It is not a grey area. Every rule can be fix or change in the future, but now it is legal.
Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
I'd suggest it be made illegal in this game before it comes a preferred method of play by everyone in the game. Currently it is impossible to complete solo against Lady & the Trampettes or The Legion of Legend for kills or drops. Most likely these individuals are just motivated by greed and most likely feel they are doing no harm in the game, but if you are going to allow this style of play to continue you may as well bring back drop stealing and the auto map pickup exploit. Get off your asses and fix this or find someone that can.

Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
rofl are you serious, what does automation have to do with bringing back drop stealing? even if you are on auto pick up you still cant pick up other peoples drops lol... to be honest i just think people are upset because they dont know how to use automation and they dislike players who know how. theres more than one way to play a game, some people use automation and some people prefer to play it normally. if you like to play a non-automatic game hey thats your choice but if others want automation let them its their choice dont hate on them because its their preference of playing.evadem wrote:I'd suggest it be made illegal in this game before it comes a preferred method of play by everyone in the game. Besides most of the people i know who use automation dont just use it for themselves, ive seen them harvest items for noobs as well to help them.

Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
Automation just gives players another means by which to exploit the game. The auto map pick-up was just an example of an exploit that once existed in the game. It gave the user the ability to grab anything that dropped on the map they were occupying without effort. Just another form of automation..
I did a little research into the Manabot client that you so cherish. It appears to only be available for linux users that at at this time. I see it has a nice add-on for those that might become mesmerized staring blankly into their screens that will sound an alarm to awaken them should someone say their chars name in the game.
If this is such a wonderful new style of play, perhaps you should solicit the devs to make Manabot part of the new TMW client. Then we all might have the opportunity to experience the wonders of automation.

acctually i have friends who use windows and are able to use it as well.evadem wrote:I did a little research into the Manabot client that you so cherish. It appears to only be available for linux users that at at this time..
a style of playing doesnt have to be wonderful, its just a different simpler style. if you want automation no one is stopping you lol.evadem wrote:If this is such a wonderful new style of play, perhaps you should solicit the devs to make Manabot part of the new TMW client. Re: TheManaWorld have many problems with botting
Perhaps you could provide a link to the windows version. I was not able to locate it at the Manabot site.

Gets any simpler then that then there would be little reason to bother playing at all.a style of playing doesnt have to be wonderful, its just a different simpler style
