a call to the community

Post by yourmistakes »

so i log in after being offline forever and hearing about the new content release. heard that there were new quests with insane requirements aimed at high level players. i'm figuring "everyone is going to be multiboxing their asses off."
so anyway i get online and sure enough, everything is going exactly as expected.

so here is my call to the community.
first off, lets come up with a decent rule about multiboxing, one that can actually be enforced. there is no reason for anyone person to run 4 clients other than greed. i don't care if no one else is online, that's called "off-peak time." i don't care.
EDIT1: another player has pointed out to me that the main problem with outlawing multiboxing is that the term "multiboxing" is too vague. that being said, it's the people stacking with themselves 4 times that are the main problem.
so lets define what the rule would disallow: one person, controlling a stack of automated characters.
Single-Player AutoMated StackERS, or SPAMERS.

secondly: a call to the developers and quest writers. lets try to write quests that aren't total grindathons. when you make an open ended fetch quest like most of these are, you're practically begging people to grab some bots and farm the quest items.

hello

first of all

multiboxing : as automated bots following one main char... my position is that it is only botting and nothing more.
of course this is not against the rules and botting is afking activity.
But to me this is nothing more than botting.

secondly
regarding the quest :
i did the complete quest in 4 hours. why ? because i kept all the drops in my ongoing way to reach level 99.
So to me this quest is good in terms of item quantities and so on.
players that are now in the less 60's levels and that know about that quest won't sell to npc and keep their drops
problems i see occuring in a transition phase such as this one:
some players will speed archer and full mage to get all the drops
some players will bot and mutlibot (lets call a cat a cat)
effect on economy will be a disaster

but as i started to point out : i did the complete quest in 4 hours. why ? because i kept all the drops in my ongoing way to reach level 99.

thanks for this great quest!

back to the main point STOP multibotters.

Sincerly.

another idea is to simply change our definition of botting. it is currently defined as afk activity. what if it was defined as afk activity or any activity without direct input from the player?
this would eliminate any automated clients following players, since our gms are smart enough to spot a manabot stack.
