Error loading maps

Last night roughly 0:00 - 3:00 AM EST I tried logging into the main server. There was some error in logging in, I just figured "oh, server down yet again". So, I tried a different server. I logged into Evol. Wow! It looks nice. I played there a few hours with a new character, Darius Bane.

This morning I try logging in on the main again. Apparently it has issues with loading maps. The same happens with Evol server. Both report back 'error loading maps' and a bunch of numbers. I am using ManaPlus, latest version on Ubuntu Lucid. I've done nothing differently. This error has just spring up for reasons unknown to me.

I looked for discussion of similar issues. All I could find on the forum were issues regarding setting up a server. I'm not setting up a server. I am just trying to play and enjoy the game. I have not done any hacking on anything.

I am going to try using the basic Mana client. Will see how that goes.

Edit: Logging into either server using the basic client has no problems.

At first try close client. Not reconnect to servers. And start again
To recover local maps, in login dialog select update normal, after login and wait until all updated will be downloaded.

Silly me had use custom update server checked. This caused the trouble. Un-checking it fixed the error/s.
