For now manaplus support avatars controlled by server (not supported now in tmw).
I think will be not hard to add avatar controled by client data settings.

ok, implimented.
Only issue here, this portrest very huge. Must be with size like npc or player. If bigger it will waste too many space.

Wish I'd have found out about this sooner, it would've saved me from pulling out my hair! Oh my gawd, so many, many unnecessary revisions! But hey, on the bright side, now that it has been implemented we can now get started on their bite sized cousins! So, regardless of the crushing blow that's been dealt ...to my hair. I'll still go ahead an post what I have so far. I would say I'd dazzle them up all purtty-like tomorrow, but y'know with the current circumstances, lol.

Oh an before I forget, I had issues with Alan & Phaet, I didn't know if you were trollin me or not Chicka, since they're completely identical, sprite wise. So I chose to go with Phaet, for obvious reasons.

Well, if you want me to make little-baby versions, give me the specific size an I'll get right to work on it or whatever else you folks got planned. Whenever you're ready you know where to find me. :3

Uh oh, the dreaded double post!
Image
Since no one replied back I went ahead an made a few samples to test the size. As ya can see, can't really see much of whoever you'd be chatting with, but it can be done and it works. If it really bothers you we can always go smaller, if ya wanted to see more.

So you're fine with that? Do you want me to randomize the portraits like I did to their over-sized cousins, or do you prefer them all sharing the same base sprite? Doesn't really matter to me though, just a suggestion. Whatever your decision is, I'll start the shrinking process tomorrow.

might be best to make them randomize like the cousins :) will give them uniqueness.

Its to bad they can't be bigger on the client though *hints 4144* it would show more detail if it was a bit bigger.

Okay. I'll get started on the all new, much tinier face sets, using the npc sheets you previously gave me. If I can get them done without much hassle and countless revisions (my poor hair), I'll ignore the 7-only rule an work on more, sound good? Great!

See you folks tomorrow!

Personally, I'm still not too fond of having the line-art in the game. We're pixel people!

Even pixel games have line art :P take a look at wonder king they're 2D as well. Mind you their NPC pictures are much bigger XD personally i think it will be a nice touch to the game when its finished :)

Oh mah gawd! My head is literally throbbing, a headache induced artist block. There's nothing like it folks, lol..
I actually believe I may have to resort to coloring them at one point or another, since they're so tiny-like.

Image
in my opinion. I think it would be best if they all used a fixed base. More akin to the one seen in Chrono Cross. I mean either way we would eventually start getting portraits using the same base, variations or another.
But like I said, my opinion. I only do what I'm told to do.

Line art is pixel art, you silly. Though mine leans more towards black & white, since I tend to shade too.
But if they really bother you that much, go ahead and color them yourself, by all means be my guest.
That is what they're made for, after all.:3

I wouldnt mind using fixed sprites for certain npcs but for npcs like katze and things that are not "human" they would have to be different.

I know ive said this before but its really to bad they couldn't be bigger. But hopefully they will look just as good when they're finished.

your hard work is really appreciated.

Of course Katze and the rest of the bunch wouldn't use the same exact base, just the pose/gesture.
Image

They're in the exact same order as the portraits from my last post. They are not meant in any way shape or form, to be mirrored. Doing so will make them look 100% ridiculous. They were drawn at an angle (like the others), then were cut to fit the new dimensions. Hooray for leftovers!
You know the drill, but just in case ya forgot I'll say it again: if you prefer them this way to the others, awesome, will go ahead with that. If not, then we'll continue with the previous set that I posted earlier. Regardless of your choice, more to come.. tomorrow! :3

Just realized Elanore looks like she's wearing a wig. I should fix that.. tomorrow!

Looks great, lets move on with this :) also Elanore needs to get a smile on her face as well since she's a happy person xD Maybe pose her like you did the colored one :) i really like that one of her.

There are other npcs that you have done great work on that need to be converted into a smaller frame so i will send more when those are done.

Thanks again for your help!

Once we get a 4th set finished I'll start placing the corresponding npc near their portrait counterpart. Just to clear up some confusion that might occur. Nip it in the bud, so to speak. Since we're on the topic, the Entertainer/emote lady is wearing a mask. Why, you ask? Well I wanted to emphasize on what she does, silly.
Image

Note: as I carry along, I'll be refining old sets. So don't mark them as final, just yet.. :3
