wiki.themanaworld.org - mistakes, bugs, suggestions

Post by Cassy »

I hope a general topic for this is welcome. The search function didn't find an already existing thread for this which made me wonder a bit.

I found two differences:
- The High Priest Crown does give an additional +20 M.Att. according to the wiki, while in-game it doesn't
- The Lazurite Robe decreases STR, VIT, AGI, DEX, LUK by -1 and adds +7 to INT -> all of this is not shown at wiki

Sorry, I can't attach screenshots right now cause I don't have access to TMW/Manaplus at this computer. I hope I remembered the minus points for the Lazurite Robe correctly.

A suggestion:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... hest_Armor
The Cotton Shirt is buyable, spellable, tailorable and you can get it from a quest and from Ishis monster points.
But the colored ones are not buyable/spellable/given by Ishi or a quest gift - they can only be dyed by Selim (or lengthened by Lora Tay with colored resources? Don't know about that).

The Cotton Shirt is only an example that also counts for other dyable/dyed armors.
The way it is listed right now leads beginners to a wrong belief.
Main characters:
Lv.94 - Cassy - speedarcher on dark path, bunny-wannabe, would like to ride on a Mouboo once...
Lv.95 - Biqcassy - mage on light path, addicted to her Fluffy Hat, love-hates Fallens, really misses Confused Tree...
Lv.70 - Simca. - dreams of becoming a speedarcher on light path, still has a lot to learn...

lora automatically applies the color when lengthening the clothing using a clear solution that makes the color run down into the new cloth. i tried it out just the other day as i wasnt even sure how it worked and had purple pants i had turned into short but turned out i prefer pants to shorts so lengthened them again

Lazurite Robe:
http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... hest_Armor and http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... ia_Sisters corrected.

Colored Cotton Shirts can also be got by lengthening a Colored Tank Top. We chose not to include them in Lora Tay's table, not to have a too big one. But we could add a sentence about it in text (idem for other items), and we will.

The High Priest Crown does give an additional +20 M.Att. according to the wiki, while in-game it doesn't
Right! I'll commit for that.
Thanks for your Feedback :D

Thank you Nard :D

Believe me, I'd absolutely love to help, but my experience with wikipages is zero and it seems quite complicated to me...

It's a wiki. Please register an account and fix these problems yourself.
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

...?
As I said: I'd love to, but can't.
Besides this, the wiki is official since it's linked everywhere including the homepage so everyone looks up there including newbies. You (not you as person, Crush) should care more about it. Your marketing won't bring you what you want/expect when you don't care more about newbies feeling well and not getting confused by wrong information (wiki). I seriously can't understand why reporting mistakes in the wiki is a bad thing, when you are not able to correct them yourself.

For sure, reporting is not a bad thing, and thanks again for reporting.
When I edited my first page I knew nothing about it too. but if you look to these reference pages, you'll see that it is not much more difficult to understand than BBcode and will get used to the basic syntax rather quickly. The best way to begin is to make corrections to existing pages, then to edit your own user page. For more difficult one you can look at the help and more experienced users are also here to help.
As you'll see in http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/Help:Editing, I progressively set up templates and sample pages to make new contributors more comfortable. (Wiki help is accessible frome the sidebar menu)
Lv. 1 - Biquinho - is still half-naked and feels useless, "reserving name for future use" bores her...
Use her to bring some pepper in your game :D

It will take me some time to read through this and understand, but I'll try. Again thank you for your help!
Btw I hope you don't mind me asking you when I have questions about this.

First paragraph of that thread? What we want are more developers. More players are good, but only because they mean a larger pool of people to recruit developers from.

That's why we urge everyone to not just talk about problems, but take matters in their own hands.

Some people think that they can't do it. That they have to be afraid of technology and don't have a talent for learning new things. But then they actually try it out and realize that they are easily able to learn these things. And when they have problems and ask, they realize that the TMW development community is surprisingly helpful to people who show initiative.

Imagine how it would be, when you would be one of these people who show initiative. One of these who not just complain, but those who earn the respect of the community (developers and players) because they make things better.

You can be one of these people. All you have to do is register a wiki account and start editing. The MediaWiki markup syntax really isn't hard. And it's not like anyone expects you to already know how to use the advanced features like templates or tables. A simple text correction or replacing a value is something everyone is able to do, even those people who are not technically inclined. When you can write a forum post, you can write a wiki article.

Actually you are absolutely right. Nice post btw.

For me I can promise you, that I will at least read through the pages Nard posted and try to help. Just give me some time to understand.

The bad thing is, that for others you just can't expect that. Trying to animate people to participate is a very, very good thing (maybe you've been successful with me) which, on the other hand, won't always work. They can't be bothered to help or don't have time to check out how it works or just want to play or whatever. This is just normal, really nothing special. Personally I'd prefer they just post a mistake or suggestion in this topic before mistakes never get noticed or good ideas vanish. Btw in my short time of 1,5 months in TMW I already read several times about mistakes or complaints in the wiki (can't remember details, sorry) -> they don't change them theirselves, just because of the above mentioned things.

Well and there are also lots of people who have no idea that a wikipage can be edited/corrected by everyone, including themselves.

So I opened this thread...
