Additionally the domain seems suspicious and I'd be willing to bet that the software itself is either spyware or malware.

If you want to get rid of spyware install Linux. Generally I would recommend you to remove links from your post.

Macs have really come around in the last couple years.... it almost put a tear in my eye when i heard they built it upon a unix kernel.

Although Macs are getting more and more vulnerable due to their growing popularity. And if a critical hole is found and a fast way of spreading (IM, clients, worm?) is developed, rm -rf / time.
