Question about multiple character login

Is it allowed according to the rules for a player to have multiple characters logged in at the same time, such as having two logged in, where one would be used to hunt, while the other would be a shop character offering items for sale to other players?

This are the rules:

1. Do not abuse other players (it means insults, swearing etc. directed to a particular person/s)
2. No bots (and by botting I also mean ANY AFK activity in game).
3. No spamming/flooding (including trade spam).
4. No begging.
5. Speak English on public chat.
6. RFC 1855.

So yes you are allowed to have multiple character logins. However, please keep in mind the botting rule. If your character keeps fighting while your attention is to the other character, it might look like you are botting.

I thought exactly the same when I saw warpspeed's question and EJlol posting the rules.
AFAIK it's not allowed but this is not clearly written in the rules.
IMO we should add that.

Now that I look at it again the rules are actually a little bit different:

mes "Players breaking the following rules may be banned (up to and including a permanent ban) or have their characters reset at the GM's discretion:";

As per my knowledge silent dawn mentioned that its okay to bring in your mules to Cindy runs and make them sit at corner just to earn daily points.

about the daily points, when fighting general teroghan(last crypt boss) you get daily & boss points even if you didnt join the fight

if two alts from the same person are on the same map, both gaining xp, one is a bot.

thats been a hard and fast rule.

Also 2 alts for one person, on different maps, both gaining xp, one is also considered a bot.

Feel free to ask a gm a question in the game if you are unsure.

This is a case where IMO there is not a strick rule saying it is against the rules. One of the alts is not active, it is just on the same map. Yes, it is taking advantage of the fact the other alt is making the quest for him but the alt is not attacking. Can this be considered afk botting?
Same for players that want to tank for their noob alts. The tank is not active, but it is on the same map. Is the tank considered a bot while being inactive?
Another example... you have your main in town, and you are killing pink flowers on that spot in town. So, one of them is considered a bot?

Rules should be more clear regarding these situations. Is it against the rules having 2 alts on the same map, with one being inactive or is it only considered against the rules if both are active at the same time?

mmh personally I dislike this.
It shouldn't be allowed to take any kind of advantage from having two characters in game*
Neither gaining EXP, nor daily points, boss points, tanking, healing, whatever.

*Of course having one character sitting in town to follow town talk or being a shop char should be considered legal.

This sounds similar like the bot rules we are currently setting up: viewtopic.php?p=146840#p146840 (Motion #2)

this shows how unexperienced you became by doing nothing but banning players, now its so rare to find someone in gy that if you dont bring your alt its almost impossible to level up

First of all we are trying to make TMW a nice and fair place for everyone and we can do that by talking friendly or at least factual, can't we?
No need to accuse people of something.

Sure it hurts people: you are gaining an unfair advantage by bringing more possibilities.
If you directly fight with both characters you "steal" exp and drops from other players.
Also imagine a rather new player with a mid level character fights on the graveyard having a hard time gaining exp/drops and you just sit there with an alt healing your main.
This is how to frustrate people, especially new players.

About banning players so gy is emptier nowadays:
I disagree. First of all TMW's bans are reasonable or do you want a world full of botters? I doubt that.
Also the graveyard isn't empty because of banned people, it's because we now have the crypts which splits the players due to more places to level your characters.
And of course we have have less people online in general compared to e.g. a year ago.
This is why the Graveyard isn't as crowded as in the past.
