PvP or lack thereof

Post by ThinkSome »

Observation: there is little to no PvP

Suspected cause: there is only one setup for winning PvP: banshee mallard(?) 1/2-shotting

If this is so, then the underlying problem here is the large discrepancy between player and mob HP. As you progress through the game (and levels), the monsters that you fight often have multiple times your HP. The whole combat system is adjusted around this, resulting in 1-2 shotting and player dissatisfaction when the fight happens between players.

Proposed solution: either scale down player damage and mob HP, or scale up player HP and mob damage. This would mean that many more hits would be required to kill a player, both giving them time to approach (warriors) and time to apply heals.

I guess there are many more reasons for the lack of PvP, but it should definitely help if players don't kill each other in just 1-2 hits. A currently popular PvP game is Brawl Stars, where players usually need at least 4 hits to kill each other (though of course it has many more mechanics to make PvP interesting, like characters maxing out their stats quite easily, relatively fast out of combat healing, ability to land multiple hits (usually 3) in quick succession when fully charged, etc.).

Also, is the PvP Cave the only location allowing players to fight each other?
