I don't know if I can save the wikipedia article, but I'll put some time into hunting for sources. I'll edit add to this list as I create it. Is there a way to post the original wikipedia entry to TMW wiki? I will not be able to alter it publicly there and drop it into a wikipedia entry, but I could use it as a reference point for developing a new entry, if it seems I can collect the sourcing or re-frame the article. I'm pretty sure others have already invested some effort into this, but I figured I'd have a go at it if its not a bother to anyone.
I do have some ideas on framing the article so that it emphasizes its relationship to the Linux Synapic Package Manager and how this allows the game to be in thousands of homes. Many websites devoted to Open Source games and software include discussions on this Linux mainstay (this point can be easily verified with a google search.
one example).
Getting a review from a recognized gamer magazine would definitely help.
Reuters counts as a secondary source, if I'm not mistaken.

- Changing to the criteria I was outlining may place its notability under
Notability (software)
If some software doesn't meet or isn't known to meet the above criteria, the following criteria can be used to estimate if the software is notable:
1. The software is among the core products of a notable software developer or vendor.
2. The software is included in a major operating system distribution such as Debian, Fedora Core or FreeBSD, and the maintainer of the distribution is independent from the software developer. Note that some distributions, such as Debian, include a particularly large number of packages. The more packages a distribution includes, the less notability is implied by inclusion in that distribution. Statistics such as the Debian Popularity Contest help to estimate the usage of particular packages in a particular distribution.
Does TMW count as "included in a major operating system distribution" and "independent from the software developer"?
- Wikipedia has two projects that "The Mana World" may fall under.
WikiProject Free Software and
WikiProject Linux which just started.
-
Wesnoth is also a part of the synaptic package manager's games and has a wikipedia entry.
- The released description about The Mana World's similarities to "The Secret of Mana" and "Ragnarok Online" need to be deepened and explained. Things like the combat targeting system, movement and 2d graphics immediately come to mind in relation to "The Secret of Mana". This would increase the likelihood that it would be included for its "free software" features.
- Description of "The Mana World" from
Wiki 4 MMO:
An open-source, sprite-based 2d MMORPG released under the GNU General Public License. It does currently run on the Ragnarok Online server emulator eAthena but a new server software is in development. The server software and content is licensed under the GNU GPL too, allowing anyone to create his own server or use TMW as a base for his own game.

TMW entry was again deleted, but the entry was thrown up by someone that was enthusiastic about the possibility of having it up. I was disappointed that it was done so soon. From comments received by devs on the wikipedia page (before they were deleted), there might not be a backup from the previous entry.
I ask that anyone else adding an entry add it first to a
wikipedia user page so that it might be discussed in a way that prepares the entry for being placed rather than fights to keep it from being deleted.
Here is my user page. If it is developed outside of wikipedia, it will ruin its chances of being accepted as a wikipedia entry.
If it is up and good, we won't have to worry about it. If it goes up hastey, its going to keep being a fight to keep up.
