Important information about botting.

Post by Platyna »

IceRegen was botting - afk killing monsters, using a program that will keep ctrl+a on.

She was unbanned by b_lindeijer, because she does not speak English well which is cute. No experience or items were taken away. So she went free without punishment.

This is a message for you all cheaters - that you can cheat, and afk playing without any punishment.

I think it is a slap in the face of community of honest players who were hard working and spend alot of time to get their skills and items, therefore I am not logging into the game anymore (therefore the trivia I was supposed to host at weekend are recalled) untill it will change.

Enjoy, dear cheaters, you have a great support now, I hope the honest players will appreciate it.

Have fun.

My problem with the ban of IceRegen was that IceRegan was never properly informed about it. She did not know how long the ban would take (while it fact it was permanent), and she apologized for "botting" (even though she was merely doing was she saw most people do). Platyna did not feel any action was necessary from her side, so I decided to unban IceRegen.

In my opinion we can't keep up the current way of just banning people when they are observed to be botting, for a few simple reasons:

* The game currently does not communicate any useful information about a ban to the player (either no length, or in older versions, an incorrect indication of a 5 minute ban).
* It doesn't say anywhere what the punishment for botting is. I wasn't aware of people being banned indefinitely for botting, was I the only one?
* "Botting" is defined as holding Ctrl +A. This is simply ridiculous. As long as TMW is a game in which botting is so easy, it is plain silly to fight "botters".

* Rules are clearly stated here on forums.
* It should be your concern to add them to the client.
* AFK killing, botting whatever the name is, the result is the same.
* I am not going to discuss it further more.

At the German irc channel she said that she was well aware of the rules and knows what a bot is.

Everyone can make a mistake. That why you can create a new honest char or request a character reset. That how it worked quite fine before.
(Someone, please translate to German.)

The way I see it there are lots of caves now with bats for noobies to kill so why don't we take the bot friendly maps (small maps that are mostly open space so bots can just stand there and shoot) and make them PVP. Let the Player community police these couple maps for awhile and see how that works.

Make newbie maps PvP - I can imagine the hell that will be raised. Gazzilion of posts on forums "OMFG I am just level 10 I got killed, OMFG I quit". Anyway we are going offtopic.

I'm talking about 2 small maps filled with bats .... I think most people know what maps I'm talking about. And there are lots of other noobie maps that can be played on but are much harder to bot on.

Black Don you are barking up the wrong tree, pvp in noob areas wouldn't make it better.

@IceRegen: If you wish I could post the full log but notice it isn't in english.

back to topic:
I know many games there the only message to perma banned player is "This account doesn't exist".

Then the other option is to change the maps to no longer be noob maps since we have lots of caves with bats and caves snakes in them now. Put stronger monsters in there like black scorps or red slimes instead of bats.

1. Follow the rules? Ban Irukard

Will be my account banned? :) I also got autokill, autoheall and auto away form players modules :) I hope it will be in future talk in 'engrish' on the level br players. Maybe I should implement there some AIML features.

Actually... YES I'm botting in tmw :P

Anyway making a bot that works in TMW 0.1.x will be very hard because of new system of real time combat. Attack zones, strategy, suporting skills, etc - All that could be too much for bot.
2. Crush was/is/will be ALWAYS right:

Looking at what parts of your game players tend to automate is a good way to determine which parts of the game are tedious and/or not fun.
