[WIP] Tripod for the second level of the mine

wouldn't it be nice if u put next to Naem, in the first level of the mines, a tripod?



and Naem would say something like: "if u want to come back, just ring the bell"

on the second level, at a wall, there would be a bell u can ring

it would also be nice, if u could fall into the hole inbetween the tripod, but then u would lose HP, like 10% of your max HP

u see, i tried to make one myself, to increase the chance my suggestion would make it into the game. but why do i get the feeling a real pixel artist can do it better...

Indeed, idea is nice. We could also use similar system with well entrance. Some details and addition could be also nice: rope, hooks, etc.

tomminator: Do you need any help in developing this concept?

i 'm really not an artist, i know graphic programs, but cant use them well.
and i really dont have a clue on how to create pixel art

i should be able to make a better concept, if i know the places where i can get the ingame graphics.

used the images i got via gip, made heavy use of the copy, rotate, move, and recolor tools from the gimp, and this is my result:


the hole in between the tripod is not good yet, and i still need to paint a rope

any comments are welcome

You should also consider integrating the feet of the tripod into the dirt and how the tripod is connected (rope?).

tried to make a new hole,
i rounded the edge of the feet a litle.
and added a first try of a rope.
the rope needs details, and is too big, but i'm working on it.
are the feet better integrated with the ground now? or do i have to add some dirt or something?

Better, yes. But also I was thinking about showing the reaction of the dirt to the legs. Just a small warp/mound should do the trick.

Also somehow the perspective seems a bit off. Try to avoid doing the front directly from front? (I know doing this will scrap all of your work so far.) It would bring the rear leg more into sight so it wouldn't seem to be oddly floating if you don't concentrate on looking and figuring out what it represents.

With graphics, the first impression and glance should be the defining one.

today i noticed the second level has a new entrance
and after a lot of effort i wasnt able to create something what was good enough

so i decided to quit it.

if somebody wants the source files with all the different layers, just reply to this post

becouse jaxed convinced me to keep working, i decided to make a bell
i also made a support leg, and added a npc and a background to see how that works

but the bell might be used at other places in tmw ofcourse.

so just tell me what you think, so i can improve it
