The black plants will need a multi-shade color ramp because black looks boring without white highlights. So we have to abandon this in-joke here. Maybe use a portmanteau of the highlight color and the base color?
No, you are wrong about this. The color used for dyeing the plants is 00 47 ab, the color value listed by Wikipedia for cobalt blue. The resulting color is darker, of course, because the plant sprite is not plain white.
