[April Fools 2009]The new PvP system is implemented tomorrow
Re: The new PvP system is implemented tomorrow
Yes, this was indeed an april fools joke.
There are currently no attempts to add more PvP combat to the game, but it is not ruled out that we will do so in the future.
But when we do so the PvP system will certainly not be made in a way which actively supports ganking or includes an obvious way to dupe items.
Apologies to OnymA and Goku who noticed that it was an april fools joke a few minutes after I posted it. I deleted their posts to avoid spoiling the joke for others.

You know enabling pvp everywhere like "kill days" in the past will make up for it..

maybe a weekly thing? Like mondays are pvp-days...You know enabling pvp everywhere like "kill days" in the past will make up for it..
Cause lets face it; we're all a little bit more grumpy on mondays.

Re: [April Fools 2009]The new PvP system is implemented tomorrow
When we have unrestricted PvP it will just be a matter of a few days until people beg us to switch it off again.
I for myself think that PvP should be strictly opt-in. Noone should be forced to participate in PvP combat and noone should have a disadvantage by deciding to do not. But I know that there are a lot of people (in the player community and the development team) who have a different opinion about this topic.

I know it's not the thread to discuss actually adding a free range pvp system, but on TMWServ... be nice if the guard NPCs would roam around most of the overworld maps (maybe 1 on every other map or so). If someone on a map attacks another player, the attacker will be assessed a bounty, and the guard would come swooping in and balloon "hault". The attacking player would have 1 minute to click and respond the guard, before the guard starts attacking the attacker. The defending player would not be harassed by the guard for fighting a player that attacked them first, until after the bounty is paid.
If the attacking player clicks on the guard within the time frame, but can't afford or doesn't agree to the bounty, they'll be hauled off to the jail map on the continent, where they'd have to either wait a predetermined logged in game time based on their bounty, or make it through a rather difficult labyrinth with tight spaces and super strong monsters to win their freedom (via a not so secret, secret hole in the holding cell). While still incarcerated, the player's respawn point would be changed by the server to the jail cell... but once they get out (either through waiting or escaping), their respawn point will be reset to just outside the jail.
The guard NPCs would be attackable, and killable, but doing so would only increase the player's bounty, and make any other guard NPCs on the map hostile. Going to another map while still having a bounty would return to the hault prompt and 1 minute response time. While someone has a bounty, they would be freely killable by all other players, and have some kind of evil particle effect surrounding them to advertise their guilt/outlaw status. Killing the guilty will drop all of their gold as an award (unless they are slain by the guards).
