Although the actions of the other player might not be in the best taste, I suggest you take advantage of the games IGNORE feature.

Because there will always be actions that some people might find offensive, and others don't, I believe the IGNORE feature to be the best solution to issues such as these.

I am happy to discourage such behaviour, but I will leave it up to the individual player to regulate who they do and don't interact with in the game.

We'll talk about this. I'm not sure my colleague here is entirely right.

I splitted the discussion about technical precautions against ignoring game masters to this thread:
http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6660
  • former Manasource Programmer
  • former TMW Pixel artist
  • NOT a game master

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

As I recall, you can say whatever you want in this game, unless it is pointed at a certian person. In this case, he did say sage's name and pointed those words directly at her. That is against the rules.

I think this person should be talked to or warned about the inappropriate behavior. Maybe we should start a topic where users who do this are posted and on probation. If they get a similar complaint within this say 30 or 60 day probation they are banned. Just a idea to try to discourage people from verbally insulting others. Also letting everyone else know who they are might help discourage it as well since their character name would be on a public post where everyone could see it.

True there are no guidelines for language but again we are a mixed community with quite a few younger players as well. I also know a few that their kids play as well. I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate someone saying that if this was their child playing the game.

I have had it happen to me first hand and reported it. I am an adult so it's not real offensive to me because a lot of the players that do it are teens etc. I usually use the ignore feature on these but I have witnessed some of the same names do this to other players as well over and over. Seems maybe the line should be drawn somewhere at least so both offenders and players know what to expect. Ex: should we report em or just use ignore in these cases.

I also know the sagecloud player pretty well and have talked with her many times in game. I know that she would never provoke anyone into using this language. She has always been a very courteous player and is a friendly person.

If I could apologize for other peoples actions in game then this apology is for you SageCloud. :D
