I'm not voting. IP bans aren't a good solution, especially if the banned were using a computer lab or internet cafe` to do what caused the ban. A friend of mine IP banned some jackass whenever they could, but ultimately banned a few computer labs at a major university. The person that was banned then went to the local library and used it to mock my friend for what he did.
Current character is "Abolish".

The Developers and GMs has already discussed and are continuing to discuss what should be consider scamming, and what can actually be done about it.

There is no reason to run this poll
<Kage_Jittai> ... are you saying I am elite :D

As Kage said, it's already being discussed, and as Wombat said, IP bans are problematic.

Also, I think it would have been more relevant to ask what kind of scamming deserves a ban, password scamming, item scamming, both or none. Some people consider item scamming to be part of roleplaying.

Haven't we been told that the GM's and Devs are currently deciding whether to IP ban ppl? And your IP CAN be changed.

EDIT: Oops, flogging a dead horse, Kage has already stated that.

Why should there be no reason to run this poll?
Somehow this remembers me to politics...
The players have an opinion, too. Even if players and developers don't agree with the solution that finally falls. Isn't it important or at least interesting what the players think about it. I mean, without players no game and without devs no game. To know what people think about ingame problems is important and it's good to see that players try to help finding solutions. Or is it uncomfortable, does it interfere something?

Most of the scammers I believe are on dial-up connections. Unfortunately, you get alot of IP's with that. IP ban is impossible in such case. Also, blue sunday (aka ange1234 aka pumba aka hot man aka hello=)(=hello aka benny etc.) is lying again. She tried to scam me while trading. She added 3k instead
of 30k (or rapidly changed the amount). So see the amount of GP you are getting before you agree.

My vote would go for "Just get a warning". In addition to that, if the same actions are repeated, then get an account ban.

- Regards, Fix.
Be safe and unscammed. :D

or whatever... people living together and sharing an access point

one scam in the familly and all are out ?

nonsense to me.

there must be other ways
I am against the IP ban

Many internet service providers don't use static IPs but give every user a new IP address from the address pool at regular intervals, usually every 24 hours. Most providers also allow to request a new IP address by doing a manual DHCP release. That means that an IP ban for many users will only last for 24 hours at best and a minute at worst and result in a ban of a random other user of the same ISP.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

It's also likely that they (or their ISP) use proxies, which means even more innocent people get blocked immediately.

I prefer to mock and ridicule the scammers until they cry and go home to their mommies or some other game were the players are less intellectually savvy and just ban IPs for everything.
