IMO, and I say this as a dabbling programmer myself, but programmers should not be GMs. We lack the social skills and savvy required of the role.

Regardless of the implementation, it's a good way to get a feel for the community's opinion, so I'll contribute.

+1 to Vink, MK, Katze, and the Cap'n. I know all three in passing. They don't take things too seriously and just do their job. They haven't been too active lately, but I assume they have their reasons.

-1 to Delasia and doorsman - I'd give em both -2 if I could, they take things way too personally. I think they play too much to retain the necessary detachment. I personally respect their efforts, as they've put in a lot of time and energy... I just think they are doing it wrong.

Ok, listen and listen well because im only goin to say this once if Bjorn, the DEVs and other GMs didnt think that any of those GMs would have "abused their powers" or any of that i highly doubt that they would have chosen them as a GM. Now about doorsman and Delasia they are 2 of my greatest friends in the entire game ever. i love them like a brother/sister and i know for a fact that neither of them would NEVER EVER do any such thing. Abusing there powers would be making their lvls high or making their stats high but having events isnt abuse it is a privlege to the all the community.

Well I'm not going to base my opinion on what others have to say rather my own personal interactions with them or what I have seen.

Captain Awesome +1 I attended one of his events and he seemed like a fun laid back guy. I also seen him quiet a dispute in town with grace and tact.

Katze +1 She is no doubt one of the friendliest people I've encountered in the game and when she is in town people flock to her like a celebrity (including myself). "Amun: Katze Master! How can I serve you today what is your bidding? Katze: Be a good player." That is pretty much the extent of our daily conversation.

Delasia +1 Everytime I see her I have the urge to yell, "I LOVE YOU DEL!!!" Out of all the GM's I think she is the least afraid to enforce the rules and I'm guessing that is why some people feel the need to complain about her. The funny thing is it is the same people who are usually crying that GM's don't do their jobs. The one time I had an issue that I actually went to a gm Del was the one who handled it and did so in a fast yet attentive manner.

Doorsman -9999999!!! I'd hate anyone who married Del so nothing personal I am just kidding! +1 I seen doors appear asking people to unstack checking for bots. The only personal interaction I had with him was when me and my team were crawling the snake pit and he joined us for awhile. Seems like a good guy to me, no complaints.

(Vink)-+ i met her in the skull cave very nice and well mannered person a all though her absence causes her lack of position we need a person to replace her time possibly keep her but just have a backup

(katze)+1 she has her moments as a player but never has she used her power to try to control a player. She is, i think the model gm.

(masterkenobie)+1 he is just like katze but stays on for longer periods of time actually i think he is the model gm the way they should all do there job. and don't forget to have fun while your doing the job its not meant to be a burden.

(doorsman)+- actually i like to think of him as a friend he was the first person to help me on a quest and i died so many times lol he helped me get the short sword. He is a great person but i don't think he can handle the job or he needs some more investigation and should at least provide legit reason to bann any player weather its a bot or someone abusing other players.

And you being slanderous without proof in public space is acceptable? As I said earlier, before pointing fingers left and right, take a look in the mirror. If you cannot write on this forum without getting personal maybe you should rephrase yourself or refrain from writing until you have calmed down enough to be objective and non-emotional.

Its very hard to take anything you say seriously when its this emotionally laden. Its very non-constructive. How do you propose we all move on when you keep insisting on adding fuel to the fire in this manner, instead of talking seriously about the matter. All you are doing is setting us all up for more pointless arguing and mud slinging. That will get us nowhere but backwards instead of moving forwards.

This statement isn't emotionally laden. I've added several points that are about moving forward constructively and I've yet to see those be challenged. You are adding fuel to the fire (see Goku's bonus to your thoughts, which is a partisan bonus). GMs insulting players isn't funny and not liking it is a normal response.

To not add fuel to the fire, those that have voiced themselves on this issue should collaborate, write an official statement and send it to Bjorn when he is back from vacation and not keep egging people on that have no impact on the outcome of this incident. He will talk personally with the GMs if he thinks it is warranted and receive their side of the story. Nothing new is getting learned from what is being posted now.

If they agree that an official statement on drop parties would've prevented the whole mess, that would be nice to hear as well, because I think most people involved would've complied if they knew that drop parties have become more of a problem as the population on the server has increased. Most every other problem revolving around this situation has already been covered and solved other than hurt feelings and a fear of a reoccurance of these types of problems for the named GMs in this situation, thus my insistence those involved draft a statement and leave it at that.

Well said, I agree. To solve the issue with the heavy lag players complain about during drop parties in town when its filled up, we might use a technical solution. It was suggested to either flag certain areas for non-drop zones preventing people from dropping anything at all, and/or introduce rate controls on some zones where the server instead of disallowing drops completely could be set to allow eg. 1 drop/minute.

This way players who are having their gameplay disrupted by lag due to drop parties can retreat to these zones while the ones enjoying drop parties can go nuts outside of them. And since the server handles it, there is no longer any discussion needed as to where you can and cannot have drop parties. And no one can break the rule to annoy or bother others, thus making GM intervention unneeded and then we can avoid a repeat of this current situation.

How does that sound for a solid solution?

We've already discussed it with him. They won't be doing it again. They still have GM.

We'll be adding some more protections to the server. Peavey mentioned many of the ideas.
