The nerve of some people, abusing open source projects like this.. Go bother someone who has the resources to deal with this kind of grief.
Else I suggest like many before me, that we introduce a $40-$60 monthly fee to play TMW, then we can hire people to deal with this. And if you think volunteer GMs are bad, just wait till you meet a corporate paid one.
Playing TMW is a privilege, NOT a right. Kindly provided by volunteers free of charge in their spare time. Think about it!

Hi Don, of course we don't have to agree on everything, even though we do tend to often enough. I was pointing out that the tone of voice used from all camps is not productive, and if you want to be heard to drop the flaming. I also pointed out that crowd control is not easy nor will it ever be. As I told a friend about this on IRC, I keep hoping people will behave and be nice since we're in the FOSS world, and I admit this is an illusion, but one I cling to never the less.
I also said that no matter who you are, when you are wrong, you should own up to it, learn from it, and possibly apologise if you attacked someone or otherwise wronged them. I was hoping that by bringing out some civility to this discussion, that the root issues could be debated in a proper tone and thus be resolved in an orderly fashion, without everybody having to waste time on personal attacks, grieving and taking the discussion off-track.
As it stands, I hope those involved will 'bury the hatchet' and work forwards and not continue this backwards development spiralling down onto a level of which none of us are worthy. By dropping the drama, we also drop 'the drama multiplication factor' which is the one where a story gets more and more juicy and obscene each time its retold.
So for the sake of decency I still appeal that people keep the tone clean and stay calm at all times. Else I'm out of here and only has one thing to say: enjoy your mudfest, I won't partake.

I live in a country where a lot of things changed in a relatively short time and I know for a fact that if you keep changing people with new people over and over again, you get to be ruled by inexperienced people and you end up with an immature community. My thoughts are not so radical. All people have the right to make human mistakes and learn from the past.
I only think that Doorsman and, I'm sorry, Delasia too are not equipped enough to deal with the verbal abuse that inherently comes with the job. They don't seem to handle well criticism while irony, mocking and disagreeing with their point of view really takes them off their track. I'm not saying they should be punished or demoted for this. Really, guys, I dare you to prove me wrong, but if you fail to, perhaps you should do the right thing and resign. I'm completely aware of the pressure you guys feel with the vote of non-confidence you 2 have received from the community even before you took any real action as GMs. You either handle it or you don't. It won't get any easier especially now when many people seem to want you out. I know that some of the older (bored) players are just jealous, but you also have made mistakes. And fell in many traps. And you won't accomplish anything if you'll seek revenge after this.
I know that your GM commands are very tempting, but 90% of the conflicts can be solved without actually banning someone. Some of them would require too much time and energy, I agree, but solving 51% with kind words without even mentioning the banning stick should be a realistic goal for any GM.
Really guys, have a meeting or something

Re: Wow GM's fail these days...
Last but not least: Can you please make some rules about drop-parties? There is nothing wrong with them other then lagging the server. Qoal's patch is allowed so basically anyone can make one. And there is no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to drop my stuff where others can pick it. The only issue is technical, so, by all means, make some technical rules and we will respect them (or at least we won't get angry when a GM takes action to enforce them).
Right now somebody drops, a lot others run around picking up, Delasia shows up and stops it for no apparent reason, and the dropper+pickers start hating Delasia to death. Even when she is right and the server is flooded by all the activity.
Tell us which are the places where such events are allowed, make a rule about asking GM permission for drop party, forbid any kind of drop parties... anything.

There probably should be a sticky, but from the last ruling on this, it was suggested that drop parties should normally be held just north of Hurnscald on Hinnak's farm.Kill3rZ wrote:Last but not least: Can you please make some rules about drop-parties? Nobody expected them to work perfectly but using the ban stick out of line was too far and the thing most of the GM's havent realized the 2 GM's that made the mistake still haven't realized or apologized about this.peavey wrote: We can't expect people in the job to work perfectly from day one, and even those that does, might also fall into a trap like this in the future. This quote is taken out of context, the paragraph you quoted is about falling into mud throwing in game or on the forum. The bans was no worse than any other we give out from time to time. And about the mud throwing, who should start apologising, well the bigger person should, so I expect to see it from everybody soon if we want to progress from here instead of going backwards.Booth wrote:Nobody expected them to work perfectly but using the ban stick out of line was too far and the thing most of the GM's havent realized the 2 GM's that made the mistake still haven't realized or apologized about this.peavey wrote: We can't expect people in the job to work perfectly from day one, and even those that does, might also fall into a trap like this in the future. Re: Wow GM's fail these days...
I apologize for name calling the GMs on IRC in relation to this situation and for voting in meway's "poll". I will applaud GM efforts on giving an official "drop party" ruling to prevent another occurrence. IMO drop parties should be treated in the same manner that chat spam is treated because it affects the game in a very similar manner, thus can be abusive in some areas.
However, unlike chat spam, drop parties do raise player morale and aren't typically done with bad intentions.

If you can't do it without resolving to personal attacks and slander, then why the heck not?Booth wrote:oh everyone should apoligize for speaking thier mind?
