Why is spam so bad? Apart from it being annoying, what harm does it do. Yes, in game it is harmful but on a forum? Who cares. I try not to spam but I don't think it matters so much.

spam is annoying, that is why it shouldn't be. except for spam marked topics.

and btw, you said that Booth's candy topic is spam, which it isn't... it's in offtopic and it is for a purpose, which is to investigate the people's fav candy

if you would answer in that topic with, for example, "my dog is green", that would be spam

just my 2 cents

We developers only have limited time for TMW each day.

Every developer uses a part of this time to read the forum to see if anyone wants to contribute or has useful feedback or suggestions.

Everytime we open a thread and just read meaningless spam instead we are wasting our development time.

For that reason some developers even refuse to check the forum regularily. So useful contributions are not read by the person who should read them.

tl;dr: By spamming the forum you slow down the development of TMW.

i was temporarily banned by doulos for spamming mean while he asked me to stop when i was buying iron and so i slowed down ask every few minutes so that when new people came in they could know i was buying iron ores i clearly stated that i was just posting it for people that came into the town that i was buying and he kept saying don't spam and even when i change the price of the iron i was buying he was like don't spam and then i got temperaly banned i think hes on a power trip cuz there was clearly a good minute or more in between my announcements in the rules where it says no spamming including trade spamming it should say within an allotted time because how are you going to buy stuff if new people come into the town and you cant to by from them unless you chase them all down and wait for them go go into a building or go out of the town....

and as for the pole on spam is should be ignored for trade when its posted atleast a minute apart cuz how are you suppost to buy or sell anything to people that have came into the town or sign in if you cant post it more then once?

I would have done the same as Doulos did. So I would not consider him being on a power trip. One minute is to short for other people gathering at the spot where you want to sell stuff. If you want to sell something, you can also do that on the forums in the right section.

Well...this is why I actually think repeatedly saying what you want to sell or buy should only be allowed on market places. But then again with at least one or two minutes between two calls. But dunno if that will ever happen....

For one, this, because you have Novice dose not make you look any better than a peon, i look at the top of the rank list and automatically thank spam (avoid top rankers)

For two, as this forum is for contribution, not random blabbering.

Now if i were to ask you if you think spam was ok? and you said yes, ppl would look at you like an idiot lets be honest platyna has made it clear no spamming this forum.

the only reason i joined this forum was cuz i got a temp ban over a power trip and yes its a power trip once a minute for posting something is not alot when there are 15 people talking with in that minute so youd be lucky if any people walking through would see it

Well i hope your logical and over this incident. I don't think that you explained it this way to the gm otherwise I'm sure he would have asked you to /whisper them (the people coming into town) although i don't completely agree with all of the gms tactics and i take the red cap as a joke, If it annoys a gm im sure it annoyed someone else. As for Doulos hes not there for a power trip its for fun and hes just trying to make the game a better one.

no its most likely i power trip when i clearly stated that i had changed the price or that i was just posting for new people in the town he over looked everything i said and the only thing he was saying was dont spam even if it was a minute or 2 later and i watched him sit there while some person 2 days before swear repeatedly and gave him like 6 warnings within like 5 mins then kicked him with out a ban.
i got warned 3 times with in like 10 minutes then got banned for an hour
so apparently swearing and making rude comments towards gm's is less offensive then posting once a minute

Well...did you see what I said? It was NOT a power trip but the thing a GM is expected to do.

I am a GM too and I would do the same thing. Those arguments about wanting to advertise one's stuff are not accepted. Saying the same thing over and over again, even when it's a bit different every time and for a purpose, is considered spam.

Btw: it is not possible to have exactly the same procedure every time. Every situation is different. The GM might be busy with something else one time and another time might pay full attention. More or less people might be around. Somtimes kicking helps, sometimes a ban is likely to have more effect...etc.

ok well explain this then i was on not to long ago and i seen buddy spamming that he wants to buy cobalt herbs mean while doulos sittin right there does nothing at all about it doesnt say anything about spamming... so am i the only one thats not aloud to spam when doulos is around or what....? is this a selective thing?
