coming up next

Post by Big Crunch »

So as a noob and frequent player, I have noticed that the TMW is a fairly large area with wide ranging activities. However I have noticed that at some point I have realized that TMW is actually a fairly small world.

What I would like to know is two fold. First, if you are a dev, whats next? Not something like 'we tweaked how a particular tree looks because it looked funny', but when and what new weapons/armor are coming out? Are classes/guilds really coming into play and if they are, what will be the advantages or skill bumps that will be implemented? Etc

Second, as a player, what would you like to see come into the game? Personally, one thing I would like to see is a slightly wider variance on actual character image. We are all white people. As a white person I dont mind, but its only fair. In addition, I would like to see different races involved with attribute bumps based on that particular race. One last thing I would like to see is the attributes make a bigger difference. Right now, everyone tells me to up my dex and vit. and forget the rest. Seems unbalanced, but that's just my opinion. Any other opinions?

First, this is a test server. The final server is being created, which means everything that you have will not work with the new server.

Secondly, spend the next few weeks reading everything on the wiki. It shows more then you can imagine is coming with the new server.

DW

Oh and who ever is telling about stats really does not know what he/she is talking about. Really.

The stats have been adjusted in the last few months.

It seems that agl is becoming as important as str. At lvl 90+, 1 point of agl takes over 5 points of str by kill stats.

We have seen that a player that has X5 str and Y7 agl is equal to a player that has X0 str and Y8 agl in exp per min with all other stats being the same.

Well, i understand the server issue, but when? Right now is when I am playing. All I see is 'hopefully soon' and the like.

As far as the wiki, I have read alot on there, but it seems as though there is a mishmash of info, alot of 'needs to be implemented' and already on tmwserve, but
Note that TMWServ is still in development and doesn't offer real gameplay yet.
So really thats not a valid argument. 'Just you wait' isnt a good deflection of criticism, especially constructive. Also consider the fact the the wiki suggestions (including the summary) hasnt been updated in over a month.

Furthermore, this is different from a cry of 'lets make it better now!'. I just want to

A. Know people's opinions, both players and devs

B. Incite talk and activity to the forum about the game.

Currently our main focus is the Content Release One (CR1) for Manaserv. This will be a Manaserv exclusive content update with a large number of new maps and new tilesets.

EAthena focused development is currently secondary. But there are still a few things going on here. Multiple people are creating new tiles for the snow region, so we will not get around creating a big update in this region.

Regarding equipment: There are currently no new weapons in development (weapon development is still blocked by missing animation phases for the playerset). But Luco just said that he wants to finish the karate suit sprite he started a year ago.

A good place to go when you want to get an impression of what is currently going on are the development forums, especially graphic development and content development private.

TMW won't ever have real classes. Neither on eAthena nor on Manaserv. We are going for a classless system for Manaserv. But don't worry, the system will be really cool. You will have plenty of options to develop your character and access to a wide range of active abilities.

Wonderful! i wish i had the ability to help. Is there a ballpark time frame on manaserv coming online playable? I know a couple of players that I have talked to have commented on the limitations of the eAthena world and i have told them to be patient and enjoy the game, but you know people, they always want more.

It is done, when it is done. It is like asking, are we there yet? Every 5 mins. No, we are not there yet.

Why do you insist on being a dick? I have every right to ask a question in a polite fashion to incite conversation on this limited target group forum. There are only so many questions that can be asked, but there is no reason to respond in a fashion that is apparently intent on killing what I think is a perfectly valid thread. If the devs decide not to answer my question at this time, fine. However you are no one and have no bearing on the question especially considering the quoted thread is several months old, the last post being from september. If you wish ton contribute to this thread in a positive manner, then great, please do. Otherwise please refrain from making unnecessarily curt replies.

As far as the quoted answer, of course it is done when it is done. It couldnt very well be done sooner. Are you devs at a stage where you would be comfortable applying a ballpark time frame or are we not there yet?

The last update of that FAQ might be a bit outdated, but nothing has changed in this regard: We can't tell when Manaserv will be ready because we don't know ourself.

Estimating the release date for software is already hard when you have a team of professionals working 8 hours each day, but when you are working with volunteers whose free time and motivation is fluctuating rapidly it becomes totally impossible.

Its all dependent on how much free time people have to work on development (this is really more of a hobby than a job).

Why do you insist on asking annoying questions in which there is a STICKY THREAD FOR?

If you have read the developers forum, the stickies for this thread, and understand that you are asking a development question in a player talk forum.

You also understand that personal attacks are against the rules of this forums and are uncalled for.

I am sorry if you feel that I am noone, I feel you are a person and only trying to answer your questions as one person to another.

As someone who is a proponent of Foss, I totally understand. This thread isnt to pressure, but to merely ask. I am still curious about what the regular players have to say and think.

Darkwater, if you find my thread annoying or bothersome, please feel free to not read it. I'm sure you are aware that this forum has a limited target audience and consequently doesnt have alot of activity. I merely want to contribute and reask questions that have limited answers or no answers. Sure, I could go to threads that are months old that people have forgotten about and dont care about, but why? People who search through threads, like me, find old info to be unreliable info. You may have been around for a while and grown accustomed to the limited activity on this site and old info. I am new and want to see something like tmw flourish. The only way this forum will flourish is if you stop being curt with people. Again, if it annoys you, feel free to not read it. Make me an enemy or whatever you wish. However, you have to admit, at least some attention has been garnered.

First I am a regular player. I have 3 characters levels, 97,95, and 51.

Second, if you want the latest and greatest, join the irc chat room. There you can, "put it to" the developers directly.

Lastly, your questions get asked daily, both in the game and on the forums. Daily. Daily. As i have told you, and the developers told you. There is no set date for anything. There is the return of the lizard/snake king, which I thought would be out before the graveryard, and magic 3/4/5/6 seem to be very close.

And, crush, do I sense something special for Christmas. There seems to be something in the air.

Now let me explain something directly to you. Themanaworld, currently, suffered a split. The developers moved on to the manasource, the admins stayed with themanaworld.

Most of the developers are now focus only on the source, and not the world. So most of the current effort is on the next server.

So new stuff, to be part of this world has been put on the back burner. Not removed, but slowed down. New weapons, items, and armour are probably not going to happen on this server. New maps might happen, new monsters might happen.

Alot of stats corrections are currently happening.

Of course this is coming from someone that is a "nobody".

Would it be possible to have a pet for a weapon like lets say a bat for one time use. It dose not really require a whole lot of animation work and we don't really have a use for them empty jars.
