New Year's Resolutions 2010

Post by bcs86 »

My New Year resolution is just to avoid negativity and depressive things like what is found in politics, random blogs and websites. Thing's that tend to be outside of my control.

Have a happy New Year. Share your resolution here.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.

I'm determined this year to get rid of this world's injustices !

So to wash GrandMa's honor clean (in blood if it reveals itself necessary ...) I want to state clearly :
  • GrandMa has actually a beard ...
... a smooth, nice curly beard I mean ... (you can't even detect it when 10 feet away from her)
  • GrandPa is dead since a rather long time now (after suffering many pains, but it's a different story ... )
and he never wore a beard ( or even a mustache, neither ... )
  • Those two statements neatly stress the fact that GrandMa could never possibly be GrandPa
(this beard-thing apart ... or even with her beard I mean ...)
  • I won't let ANYBODY mock GrandMa or even her beard !
    I mean it : NEVER !
THIS is my 2010 resolution and I'm determined to apply it by every means imaginable!

Have a happy New Year. Share your resolution here.
And now, Happy Old Year. Reflections on the resolutions.

How did mine go?

Maybe this resolution was out of necessity, but many things have been happening this year.
I was not expecting the U.S. midterms, so politics was everywhere along with 2 opposing rallies. The state I'm in is having a deficit crisis and high unemployment, the nausea lingers from all the campaigning.
No matter who you vote for, evil legislation gets introduced each cycle which is hard to ignore.
Now suddenly the government is seizing domain names obviously targeting torrent search engines, though they also seized some site names of the counterfeiting market which no one has ever heard of, to cause people to think "sharing files == counterfeiting clothes". I don't download or buy movies or music (I think it helps my creativity be more original) For a year or more I've not bought video games. I'm also not interested in any popular new electronics.

That aside, it has still been a sad year for me. 2005 was my most productive year. Since 2005 I've been in and out of the hospital for self-mutilation. This year a relative of mine overdosed once, and a friend of mine also overdosed several times. Everyone around me has too much to hopelessly worry about.

Yay for optimism! All I have to do is pull my head out of my own ass so I can disappear into my naval!
But that's what TMW is for. It's a fake little world which to retreat and remind us of all the things we can't do IRL, such as travel, trade, and walk into houses without knocking.

Indeed, avoiding negativity is difficult, and I wouldn't want to. That would mean being like the delusional marketing weenies or fervently religious.

If you had a resolution for 2010, maybe you will post how you did or did not keep it.

My grand-cousin used to "kick asses" in his own way : without fear and beyond reproach ...
