[Magic Issue] vote for or against lightnings Power
[Magic Issue] vote for or against lightnings Power
Many of the Players have noticed the unbalanced magic spell that cast lightning, and seemed to think it is over powered. There are many suggestions pending, one from sugarcorgit I personally like. To disable it in pvp until it is properly balanced. I was asked by multiple people to make this subject and felt that it needed to be discussed so I did. Thanks for reading and voting. All negative and positive votes are appreciated.

I rarely use PvP, I forgot the details of this spell
but there's a spell that "protects against other offensive/war magic"... is that effective for protecting against lighting attacks?

if you don't want kill by a lightnings , you shouldn't go to the arena
no really 700 damage is too dangerous
because a archer versus a wariror . if the archer is far to the warrior, well ... we know who wins
it is also , shooting against the clinch

Thanks guys. we still need more votes. I just want to say for the record. I think sugar is lvl 94 or so, she got killed by a Mage in his pajamas. She is an archer afaik so her vit is most likely no higher than 32 or so, maybe a little more. So 700 attack against someone with those settings would lead to negatives pretty fast.

Meway, vit won't reduce anything from lightning. Certain spells ignore conventional dodge and defense. This makes them highly effective against entities that rely on dodge/defense to be dangerous (implicitly at the expense of greater hp), such as skulls or players. Against every other type of entity, they simply aren't cost-effective.
Kage and I have been working on new formulae dealing with maximum hp, hp regeneration rate, and (conventional) damage reduction. This PvP problem is one of many we're hoping to solve by doing this.

Re: [Magic Issue] vote for or against lightnings Power
i voted to turn it off in pvp. mages have only two attacks that can be used on something more dangerous then yellow slimes. why changing the power? while a good archer or warrior hits something 4 or 5 times a mage hits once with the lightning and has to wait after that. It has much power but think, the time a mage needs to find the iron ore and turn it into powder. In that time other players can kill and get there xp. not a mage, not even a high leveld mage. just pvp is difficult, one hit and dead. other then that it should stay as it is.
my humble opinion
oh and the sugar case. I really like sugar but with lvl 94 you can set an archer very well. i was lately archer and i was walking through mobs of snakes and stuf like that without getting killed. you can set your vit high enough. mine was around 650 or so... wit dex 99. and i am only lvl 74. not all mages have the power to cast a lightning with 700 damage.

I voted to leave it as it is. Who cares if I 2HKO-ed Sugarcorgit? It wasn't a serious PvP match, I caught her off-guard, It cost me an Iron Powder, and I get to brag about it. Nobody loses!!!

Re: [Magic Issue] vote for or against lightnings Power
it's a good thing to have difference between players. If we have to fight with a mage (very ugly and strongh ... about 700 damages), we have to be more protected. As an archer, dex at 90, if i bit a mage, i kill him in one or two shot if he has got a low vit. And with a shield as a warrior, i will not take all damages. It's fair.
but ... i am agree with freeyorp
So, in my point of view, lightning must be reduced in PvP until this balance works.
hapo2 (because the one has disappeared, i don't know why and how...)

It does take a lot of time to find ore and make powder. This does give other classes time to level up. Having these two attack spells is the only thing that gives a mage a fighting chance. You take that away, and you might as well just scrap the class.Leela wrote:i voted to turn it off in pvp. mages have only two attacks that can be used on something more dangerous then yellow slimes. why changing the power? while a good archer or warrior hits something 4 or 5 times a mage hits once with the lightning and has to wait after that. Just an opinion, but this really just sounds like a case of whining to me. "Oh, poor me. The mean and nasty mage just plugged me into a light socket and my hair stood up and my eyes lit up." If you don't like it, don't do pvp.
I fought against a couple people in pvp around the time of the Halloween quests...using lightning...and still died. One such person was Deth. I don't remember the other person.
Seriously though...
Why penalize the mages in pvp? It's not as if lightning is too powerful outside of pvp. Why not get more creative? Maybe folks should put together pvp "teams"? They would have to sign up together as a "Party". Example: Two teams. Each with a warrior, archer, and mage. While the warriors battle it out, the archers try to peg off the other team from afar. The mages will try to cast protection on their teammates (#betsanc), cast spells at the other team (#ingrav, #flar, #joyplim, etc...). Maybe the developers could come up with a couple new spells to help during battles. Like the ability to spawn spiders which would attack monsters or the "enemy" pvp team members. There are spells that are proof against lightning. #asorm protects against magic in general. I didn't hear anyone mention #kaflosh! "Rain spell?", you might ask. Yes. Have you tried it against a mage using lightning against you in pvp? The rain conducts electricity and sends it right back against the caster and kills them. Ask Necromocron. I did it to him in pvp once. ( heh heh he

Another idea.....
Have a developer come up with new armor or magic item for the warrior or archer which is proof against lightning or substantially protects against it. Maybe a rubber or padded shirt, reflective shield, ring of protection, or some other such thing.
Don't penalize Player B because Player A is whining. Get creative! Come up with ideas to help the warrior or archer.

OR you could simply be a mage, so that your ultra-powerful and you don't whine about mages being too strong. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.JackDeth wrote:If you don't like it, don't do pvp.

Actually, I don't think you can use rain in PvP, I think it was outside Hurnscald, although if that was the case I don't know why I used #ingrav in the first place.JackDeth wrote:I didn't hear anyone mention #kaflosh!
