The mac-has-no-viruses argument is becomming less and less valid.
The reason there were few viruses for MacOS in the past was not because MacOS is inheritely more secure than Windows. It's just that the number of installations was so small compared to Windows that noone bothered to write viruses for it. But with the raising market share of MacOS this changes. There are already viruses and other exploits for MacOS spotted in the wild.
In the meantime Microsoft has accepted security holes as the main critique point of their operating system and does its best to make Windows more secure. While XP had several security flaws by design, a lot much more attention was given to security during the development of Vista and 7.
When MacOS and Windows ever reach equal market share the number of their security concerns will also become equal.
