What do you think about PVP in this game?
Re: What do you think about PVP in this game?
Very interesting Crush, makes sense..I myself play games to relax, there is enough strife in everyday life, and I relax by playing non competively. I was once VERY agressive real world, went to a REAL war that was not a game. Given a choice back then,I wouldn't have fought in a war,BUT there was no choice.

@ acegi - Lightning may be too powerful in a pvp context, but think of it like this: If I, as a mage, go out with 1 vitality in the pvp zone, a good warrior will kill me in 1, maybe 2 hits. How is it not fair that warriors die easy to mages, when warriors never use Int? In the same way that using betsanc with 1 vitality won't help me much, a warrior someone cast asorm on won't benefit much without some intelligence. If anything, I'd say the class who has a right to be upset is the archer, who can kill mages if he gets close enough, but never had a chance against the warriors.

Yeah, I did point out archers are the worst affected and it's pretty well known what class of player I play as!
One idea I've been considering is that archers would be given more luck to do more criticals than any other class. I'm a bit ambivalent about this idea because in player vs monsters, archers already out-kill monsters compared to warriors (and to some mages). On the other hand it's fair because archers pay a significant arrow cost; virtually NO profit at all aka unsustainable GY cost. This makes it easiest and cheapest for warriors to grind levels in GY because archers have to spend a large amount of time killing weaker monsters for money. It is also well known that GY is unequivocally the best place to grind levels.
This leads me to a compromise idea which requires changing the game engine a little (and should really go into Development rather than in Player Talk). The idea is as the distance between archer and target decreases (closer), chance of criticals should increase exponentially/significantly. It's like firing a gun at point blank range, you would expect a kill.
This bonus doesn't/shouldn't affect mages since all their hits are magical and hit (real world) 100% of the time.

See, now I like that idea, a lot. Plus, it's reusable for any long range projectile weapon they come out with, ex: crossbow, darts, pistols (doubtful, heh), etc.
Personally, it would be interesting if they made the equipment a little more thought provoking. Like, for instance, if they raised all max stats to 100-120, but compensated with all armor having bonuses and penalties, like +30 defense, -5 agility, etc. Course, then to avoid unfair bitching good mage equipment would probably need a Vitality penalty or something.

yeah, skills to learn for warrior and archers (making you choose for warrior/arch/mage for that instead of the possibility to get them all) would be nice.

Although i hate the feeling of being bullied and i wish that people wouldn't act in such a way (im referring specifically to unannounced attacks- especially on low lvl chars), How ppl act in such an environment is a reflection of someone's true character and gives us a chance to see what people are really like.

Perhaps statements like that is why people bully you.

Re: What do you think about PVP in this game?
Just throwing my 2 cents into the pot (not that they hold much weight right now) on the PvP issue. I like the idea of pvp enabled maps, but perhaps not making it an area that is the sole location of a resource. An idea that came out during town chat the other day was having to cross through a pvp map in order to get to that resource, providing the challenge, but still allowing for unhindered gathering once your destination is reached.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
