Ownership of the Terranite Mine
Re: Ownership of the Terranite Mine
If all you are trying to do is get level 99, the terranite mine isn't the best place. Try the graveyard.
Current character is "Abolish".

There is a difference between MySpace, Facebook, Phone calls, etc and a game. Because all of those other things are reflections of the person in real life... unless its phone sex or something outside the box.Frost wrote: When a gang of level 90+ characters beats up passing level 50-ish chars for their lunch money, I call that cowardice, not "aggressive." I distinguish between an actor following a script and an online bully. I judge people by how they act towards others, whether that's in person, over the phone, on MySpace, or in an online game. It's good that you haven't found anything more scary than that.
Fair point about the real-life gangs, though. My comment really was over the top. Of course I'd rather people act out their bully fantasies in on online game than with a knife on a real person.
The thing is, that role-playing games are suppose to be like being a actor in a movie. Where you can be something or someone you would not be in real life. Reasons for this can be many things from having a feeling of control, to anything else. Hell you could even play role-playing games in ways that you consider cowardly if you are role-playing as a cowardly player.
Also, it is fine if you think they are being cowardly. That is your choice. Though keep insults game-related. If you want to say someone is a ugly as a pinky or as intelligent as a maggot, thats fine. As this is a form of role-playing. However keep a person's character separate from the person. As I will do for you when make these insults.
<Kage_Jittai> ... are you saying I am elite
<thorbjorn> Yes.

<thorbjorn> Yes.

Re: Ownership of the Terranite Mine
I personally dont care about any insult towards me or anyone I know. Why would I respect or care for someone elses opinion, when its an insult?

Re: Ownership of the Terranite Mine
I agree with Kage. One of the things that has always dampened this game is how serious many players take characters as a reflection of how a person actually is. If people can choose evil magic in the game...does that mean the player is also evil? It is ridiculous to assume someone that is a prick in the game is necessarily a real prick. If people would give each other a little room, there probably would be a lot more fun happening in the game.Kage wrote:There is a difference between MySpace, Facebook, Phone calls, etc and a game. Holy paladin types taking on the foul egoists in the terranite mine would be a fun narrative to see enter the game and drum up interest in both groups/guilds/types of players.

- I wonder how many people truly understand that most of the fun in TMW comes from the "role-playing" aspect ...
- For the hard-core "role-playing" members the fun seems to have vanished for a long moment now.
Want me to explain in details how it happened ?
