ManaPlus (4144 client) and custom data.

Post by Merlin »

I've gotten around to getting my server set up. After noobing my way thru most stuff I got it working.

The only problem I seem to have is that I am unable to get manaplus to use custom data.

the tmw client works fine with -u -d /path/to/data/
manaplus refuses to use custom data.

Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. Has anybody seen this princess I'm looking for?

Updates from update server have more priority over local dir what you give in -d parameter.
Exist some other way.
1. In game chat type /dirs.
It show different game paths in debug window. You need "logs directory"
Open it and in this directory open updates/updates.themanaworld.org/local/
Full path look like this: /home/user/.local/share/mana/updates/updates.themanaworld.org/local/
2. In this directory you can put any uncompressed files or compressed zips.
This files have more priority over any other content files.
Here you can put all repository or only files what you want change.

Now if you start manaplus it will use normal content patched with your content files.

dang. I so wanted the spiffy comment. Really it doesn't bother me to much to not be able to test with the 4144 client.
The only thing I really wanted it to work for is true game play testing. I'm sorry but no mage in there right mind would NOT use 4144 client. For testing everything else it's just fine to use to normal client. I just figured that someone might know how/why.

Sorry about the placement of the thread. I kind of didn't know where to put it. TY 4144 for your feedback. I was able to get it to work.

Apparently it is not appropriate for some people here either. Moved to Player talk. If someone finds this in offtopic, I've again moved it there after receiving feedback from someone.
