Time well spent...

Post by Darkwolfz »

Thanks for the effort in the development of this project. But due to the unforeseen circumstances recently (server crash 16/11/2010) , it was quite unfortunate to see what had happen. i guess most people will just forget and start from scratch saving up.

So good luck to them. Chocolate Cupcake sometime can happen twice.

This wasn't some malicious act. It was an unfortunate mistake by someone outside of tmw. Our development team is working furiously to repair and restore the affected data. This is an open source project with people donating their time and talents for free. I know for a fact that some have lost sleep trying to fix it. So please have a little patience and understanding

What happen is no ones fault. Everyone is trying to fix it. If you are soo upset about this, life is going very hard for you.

Stuff happens, get a helmet and move on.

So if you think big crunch is feeding you the company line, they will tell you I have no friends here. But I have always placed blame where it belongs. It was an rare accident, nothing more. DW

When I learned that the game had crashed and some data was corrupted, I was pretty worried. People like to talk about backing things up, but few of us actually do it, and even fewer do it properly. I knew what to expect from a project that is run by a handful of volunteers in their "free" time -- or I thought I did.

The admins quickly brought the server back online so we could log in and learn what was going on. I'm deeply impressed at how quickly and completely those admins identified and fixed data problems, restored a consistent set of data (game, storage, bank, characters), and then posted an update in the MOTD.

Thank you Platyna, Freeyorp, Kage, and anyone else who worked so hard to bring this game and our community back. That was indeed time well spent!

Well, if people are not doing mindless bitching it is ok. I would be pissed off too if I lost levels and items. ;)

Anyway we do backups, and further more, we do backups on disks the TMW community helped to buy.

Regards.

I too would like to thank everybody involved in restoring things as quickly as they did. Working in tech support, I have seen similar scenarios way too many times with no happy ending. The good ones who got their data back had to wait for almost a week in most cases. AMAZING job by Platyna and all the rest! THANKS!! :D :D

Thanks

You mean the backup data of your characters?

No, this data is stored safely on the server where it is out of reach of players trying to manipulate it to get free stuff should it ever be needed.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.

You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
