[WIP] Burglar Mask

Post by Coolkid 782 » 01 Jul 2010, 05:10

So I basically created a burglar mask that goes over the eyes of the charactor. Is there anyway to make it so that the mask is placed under the hair of the player? Btw I think that the shadow and shine might be off a bit :?

Hair layering is an unresolved technical issue.

That aside, the gray colorslide choice of colors is probably suboptimal (it's not easy to work in such restricted pixel space).

I tried to test it, but head was bigger then this mask. Maybe it should be some modificated?
  • Make it some more bright and add some more colors, like brown
  • Some more texture
  • Modificate bug
Hope it'll help

I think someone at this point would make a comment about gradient shading. But I could be wrong.

It IS gradient shading.

When you want a template: the sprites of the headband item have a very similar shape.

I would recommend you start from something less demanding. Small stuff is always the hardest to pull off in pixel art.

If you're serious about pixel art contribution, a good tutorial project is to draw a ball in our perspective and lighting and we'll see where we take you from there. Want to try?

This is the graphics development board. Maybe you could talk to Coolkid through PMs?

As to the item, it has no outline (which can be difficult with small items) and uses gradient shading, as was mentioned. It is also a hat, and if possible I don't want any new hats at all. In my opinion new hats should only be added if there is a pressing need for them.
