The saving planet signature is pressurizing on me. I dont know if it's suiting me either. I want to play normally. I hope some of you will use this or similar signature because you are also a member of this planet. :|

If anyone's interested then use the following script or try your own. Thanks in advance.

how does a picture in my signature help the planet?

Sorry but I'd rather really do what I can. And I mean what I can, not what a big organisation like Greenpeace does, because i don't have lawyers and money and the possibilty to travel to china to rescue dogs... knwo what i mean?
But I can do a thousand small things like recycling, using public transport, walk short distances, not spraying stuff with fckw, not throwing trash on the streets, not being noisy and damaging plants when I am out in nature like a forest or in the mountains, not buying the nice hand bag made of crocodile skin, etc...
That is what a single person can and should do. Would everyone behave like that, it would move a lot. But well... people...

first Thanks.
And if you do not misunderstand me, I mainly prioritized on "awareness".
Do it whichever way you think possible for you. Think your own side as well as the collective side. You dont need to sacrifice much.

And it's a nice community. Enjoy this game like a child. But if we behave too childish there will be monarchy imposed from parents :(

well i get the point with the awareness. just awareness alone does not help at all.

many people know many things that are wrong -> they are aware. Actually most people I know are aware. But also most people don't do a thing. Not even those small things I described. Sometimes they can't, sometimes they are too lazy.
And a picture in the signature is not more then a picture in the signature. And not many will even really look at it, or click it to find themselves on the page of Greenpeace.
Greenpeace, as i am talking about it anyway, is an organisation I do not like. They force their ways into things they can't change and then they make it a BIG deal when they think they made a point with something. Nothing against environment activists in general. As long as the stuff they do shows results I am ok with it. But I am sure I will never join in, because I like to do my part in the small scale and I do not want to pay a lot of money and do stuff that is partly illegal to help the earth. Especially when I know that politics won't change, which is exactly the point. Laws have to be made, just like in Germany, where you have to recycle, by law. And you can actually get in trouble for not doing so. So many people do. Just as an example.
But politicians have a long way to go until things like that will be seen as important everywhere and until governments all around will start to act accordingly.

(wow i sound like a politician O.O)

The way you write this, it sounds completely over the top, but it isn't.
As long as I had my own place I did exactly this. I had no car, I bought fresh food, I recycled, and I used my feet for getting from one place to the next (up to 40km a day - and yes, by foot)
When I was with room-mates I still recycled and went all by foot.
Where I am now, there is weirdly enough no way to recycle but we buy stuff that is made local and cook fresh at home.

And for the plastic stuff: Why not buy things packed in plastic boxes or other stuff? You can use most things instead of throwing them into the garbage. Clean them after they are empty and use them until they break. For example icecream boxes are great to store food in the fridge. The glasses from pickles are great for home made jam.

So I for my part, always do what I can. But anyway I am a sinner :D I use a computer and a fridge instead of a typewriter and a basement filled with ice. ;)

iceslice: I didn't mean it as negative response. But there comes so much to my mind when things like awareness for environment and especially greenpeace is mentioned.

Well, I havent read all posts before.
And I dont understand why you guys find the negative sides only. In a big scale awareness is something that really matters.
& yes some took it as marketing but dont take it negatively. Open source software is also a form of marketing. But it has good sides.

& to leela I would agree with you that you havent meant negativity if I wouldnt see only discouragement. May be GreenPeace have problem with their mgmt or strategy but normally they dont have ill-intention.
If you dont like something, dont hate it or try to destroy it. If possible better try to correct/fix it.

edit: ok guys, i understand i souldnt have started this thread

i am not trying to destroy it. I just said my opinion about it. I didn't say "uh ugly pic, take it away" or so. Those were just thoughts. No bad intentions at all, really.
Be honest. Do you think the pic looks so interesting that people click it to read the things they should be aware of?
I don't think so. But a discussion like this might open more eyes then a picture in your signature, don't you think? Even if not many people answer, more are reading.

hmm, just in case, with greenish jokes i didnt mean such signatures nore in some why ironic ways to make sensible for the topic.
what i meant with greenish jokes are companies that don't change whatsoever regarding their behaviours but just paint it green without real change and sells the same just at a higher prize.
at the same time, i see some chances that some of the ironic/alerting signatures could redicule and hide some real tragedy, strenghtening the image of an "ecofreak". can't put that better atm..
